In the Mail: "House to House"
Posted by Bill I just received a review copy of "House to House: An Epic Memoir of War," by David Bellavia and John Bruning. Bellavia was awarded the Silver and Bronze Stars and nominated for the Distinguished Service Cross and the Medal of Honor for his actions in Fallujah. He is also a co-founder of Vets for Freedom, an organization which mobilizes "veterans to communicate America's strategic objectives in Iraq and Afghanistan." This looks like a great read. An interview with Bellavia: More here. Unfortunately the word is used by many to denote weakness, something I don't read into this soldier. Perhaps the interview, at his home and in front of his wife and child, would have been quite different on the battle front, puncutated with 4,5,6 lettered words and a gun to wave around. The music and environment definately effect the tone, yet his undeniable passion for the mission comes through. Remember, this is a Simon & Shuster production not a Pat Dollard hand held. The word "pathetic" certainly doesn't apply to Mr. Bellavia. Posted by: Bill from INDC at August 29, 2007 09:38 AM Right you are Mr. Bill, perhaps a line between may have helped, on my screen the post includes your quote, I thought the quote you made was part of the post. My apologies. Regards, B.A. Hokom Posted by: B.A. Hokom at August 29, 2007 12:01 PM |
