I'm tired of the "must feed the monster" attitude in the media already. It leads to undue speculation in all manners of "news" and does very little good and probably more harm. I'm still praying for the Fox news crew to be released unharmed, but I don't necessarily need hourly updates telling me there's nothing to report. I'd rather the reporters work on finding valid and relevant information and reporting on that. Posted by: Scoob Well, media attention can also place pressure to release a captive ... I suppose it depends on the motivations of the kidnapping. Political? Monetary? Posted by: Bill from INDC at August 22, 2006 01:49 PM Methinks that might work domestically, but I don't know about internationally. Especially when you're dealing with terrorists. As Devil's Advocate, I'd be willing to propose the opposite when dealing with terrorist kidnappings: no media attention doesn't feed the terrorists the attention they crave. Of course that may lead to spectacular displays of murder that will get them that attention. No easy answers, certainly. Posted by: Scoob Well, it would work internationally (and has worked) when the Palestinian Authority has put pressure on kidnappers to release sympathetic media who were kidnapped. Often by their associates. But your points are taken. Posted by: Bill from INDC at August 22, 2006 01:56 PM Yes, but where is baby Suri?
