The way I see it, having an open and productive debate about strategies for fighting the War on Terror is going to do that. How else do you explain the long list of contradictions they all espouse and embody? From PC speech codes that shut down dissent from the right, while simultaneously allowing veiled threats from a "psycologist" toward a two year old boy, all the way to a "woman's right to chose" just so long as she isn't living in a muslim country. There are a long list of other examples, of course. The reason people bring Clinton and his administration into these discussions is becasue the world did not begin when Bush was elected. There is a history to these attitudes, these actions and to this type of political expression that precedes George Bush. Nut jobs like Deb Frisch were not created by George Bush, they were created by a style of virulent politics that preceeded him. They also preceeded Clinton (I refer you to the Viet Nam era), but in the Clinton years they reached a level, and attracted a following, that has now fallen on the Bush presidency like a pack of ravening wolves. It was the Clintons that refined and used the politics of personal destruction. I've never been comfortable with this view of the Left as "psycho". Such a description commits the same error as that underlying the mischaracterization of various kinds of immorality as "disorders"... it dismisses the power and nature of ideas, and individual responsibility along with it (since ideas are chosen, illnesses aren't), and thusly blinds people to the real problem... ensuring that it will happen again and again.

Each person, left, right or otherwise, is fully responsible for understanding the nature of their ideas, knowing where they lead, and for the real-world consequences thereof, whether they fulfill that responsibility or not. Screaming "But I didn't mean THIS!" amid the wreckage is not a defense in the court of reality.
