FMA BDS Fever: Catch it!

Posted by Bill

For the record, I think that this is an excellent rebuttal, especially the very last line.

People just need to ignore Andrew. He has completely marginalized himself with his own hysteria and self-righteous posturing.

His FMA disconsolateness is particularly rich given that, after waxing lyrically about how marriage is a universal civil right that every member of society is entitled to, he will turn around and say that monogamy is a sham and that "discretion" is the highest virtue in a relationship.

I mean that really is the ultimate post-modern decadence, demanding rights that you hold in contempt, but none the less feel entitled to simply because they are there.

Oh and if you don't get that, then you're just not a part of his tragically hip generation!

Agreed, unless you are employing the traditionally encompassing definition of "ignore," thus ruling out mockery or pointed derision.

No, I mean "ignore" in the way people ignore Pat Robertson or David Duke. Sure its fun to have a few laughs at their expense, but no one (with any sense) really gets outraged and spills ink at the stupid stuff they say anymore, because they have made complete fools out of themselves and are not seen as serious thinkers.

Unfortunately, some people still consider Andrew Sullivan to be a serious thinker, and thus still get outraged at the stupid stuff he says. Having a contract with TIME helps him maintain some semblance of credibility, but it really shouldn't. How long has Paul Krugman been writing for the Times? Or Derbyshire for NR?

It's a deal then!

Perhaps we can get Andrew to go down to Gitmo to supervise the feeding and handling of the prisoners himself.

Posted by: rbj at June 16, 2006 09:07 AM

A better idea, I think, is to get an exchange program going for folks who want the inmates at Gitmo released. Perhaps they can host them in their own homes until the terrorists' countries welcome them home.

His words are the smoke screen of deception. They carry not one iota of substance. The story is a fabrication put forth to carry the fight down the road to another day.

Nancy -

LOL.

Posted by: Bill from INDC at June 16, 2006 11:19 AM

Oh, no. We aren't allowed to return the terrorists to their home countries, for fear they may be tortured. Nor are we allowed to hold them in prison here. About the only thing we can do is host them in, say, Alec Baldwin's, Michael Moore's, and Cindy Sheehan's homes.
