Posted by Bill BOOK SALES SOS: CARVILLE/BEGALA BOOK BUST, 'TAKE IT BACK' SELLS 17,734 COPIES SINCE JAN. RELEASE, ACCORDING TO NIELSEN'S BOOKSCAN; WONKETTE ANA MARIE COX 'DOG DAYS' 5,383 COPIES SOLD... DAILY KOS 'CRASHING THE GATE' ONLY 253 COPIES PURCHASED, NIELSEN CLAIMS... This buttresses my pet theory that the Daily Kos only has 253 individual readers that hit refresh over a half-million times per day. Posted by: rbj at March 9, 2006 02:52 PM Hard to believe that Kos number. Not that I think the kos kids are that literate, but still... i SAID the Cox book would go straight to the remaindered tables... Posted by: beautifulatrocities at March 9, 2006 03:46 PM Might oughta pick up a copy or two for their collectibility 50 years from now. "Yep, grandchildren, there once was a party called The Democrats. This kind of stuff destroyed it." By the way, no posts? That's okay. Ferrets? More, please! No blogroll? Hell, that's got to stop. That's the main reason I visit here. Posted by: Phil Smith at March 9, 2006 04:49 PM Markos must have a coffee table with a leg that's exactly 247 books too short. Posted by: j.d. at March 9, 2006 05:49 PM Dayyum, that's service. Thankee. Posted by: Phil Smith at March 9, 2006 06:07 PM I agree with the much-lower-than-reported daily readers theory. If he does in fact have as many as claimed, and unless all of his readers are unemployed adults still living in their parent's basement (a distinct possibility), he would have sold at least a couple of thousand books. It would be very entertaining if, after all this time as being a "kingmaker" for the Dems, he turns out to be the wizard behind the curtain with only a few hundred actual readers! Posted by: Ken at March 10, 2006 09:54 AM I actually think that the numbers on Kos are just way early, but I wouldn't be shocked if he never tops Begala/Carville, or even Wonkette. Posted by: Bill from INDC at March 10, 2006 10:46 AM Welcome back! I'll bet Kos probably gets a lot of college students for readers, who then graduate and aren't sure what to do with their liberal arts degrees, so they check his site often between the lunch and evening shifts at El Torito. Don't get me wrong - I was said liberal arts major. I just have a mortgage and kids now. Posted by: Nancy at March 10, 2006 02:03 PM How's Instapundit's book doing? Posted by: David J. at March 10, 2006 06:05 PM No idea. Posted by: Bill from INDC at March 10, 2006 07:00 PM As of today Friday at 19:00 hours Army of Davids: #114 in books Don't really knows what that means Posted by: Cardiakke at March 10, 2006 07:04 PM It means: Army of Davids is outselling Cradhing the Gates. Beyond that its pure speculation. I speculate that Reynolds has a whole room in his house packed full of his book. Kos has a much smaller house. :-) Posted by: Kav at March 10, 2006 08:15 PM "This buttresses my pet theory that the Daily Kos only has 253 individual readers that hit refresh over a half-million times per day." That would account for the time spent per visit being less then one second. Posted by: William Teach at March 11, 2006 10:58 AM It will be interesting to see how the Kos numbers stack up over the long term. As to the visit stats, as I understand it, the site is more of group thing, with multiple authors. Seems to me, that makes it much easier to enlarge one's overall numbers. So it really isnt Kos but the combination of everyone writing in their diaries and drawing in readers. Probably just protest kiddies and sheehanbots anyway ;-) Posted by: Mark at March 11, 2006 12:53 PM Markos M is dumb as a doorknob Posted by: Ace at March 13, 2006 08:22 AM |
