Florida Cracker memorializes a hero:

Hugh Thompson died Friday. In this Georgian was the decency, courage, and strength we hold as being at the core of the American soldier.

On March 16, 1968, Hugh Thompson stopped the My Lai massacre.

His courage in the face of the insanity of that day astounds me. As a child I knew about Calley. I didn't know about Thompson until I was in the military myself and he was given as an example of what it means to be an American soldier.

Bill, thank you for linking this, and Donnah thank you for posting it, and providing the link to the article/interview with the gunner, who was only 18 when this happened. The courage of those 3 guys is utterly amazing. God bless them all.
