Seal: Crazy

(Quicktime)

Since I linked Alanis Morrissete's remake, I think it only fair to compare the original. Verdict: despite the remake's competence, Seal wins.

A personal anecdote: strolling away from a lazy beer-and-sun-drenched daytrip to South Beach about nine years back, I stumbled into a score of late-afternoon onlookers gathered around the slightly-elevated terrace of an art-deco Ocean Drive cafe, all smiling, bobbing and listening to a mysteriously exciting live performance. Slipping towards the front of the laid-back "press," lo-and-behold, I discovered Seal staging an impromptu acoustical concert for patrons and foot traffic (his tour bus quintiple-parked on the street out front). Fantastic. He can sing.

Bonus Classic Seal Two-fer: Killer.

I knew there was a reason I loved you. I mean ... besides the moonbat mockumentaries. ;-)

I finally discovered what happened to his face. Seems some Japanese guys beat him with clubs when he was a baby.

Old but solid.

Ba-rump-BUMP.

Actually, the scars are from childhood lupus, I've read.

This song was how I first found out that Seal is not for me. He's just saying an almost clever phrase over and over. Technically, it might be a country song.
