Valerie Plame! Slooowwly I turn...
Posted by Dorkafork Here we go again. Gatewaypundit points out, in bold font, that: Also, from the website: He is married to the former Valerie Plame and has four children. (via American Thinker) also: So, via Who's Who, the name "Valerie Plame" has been associated publicly with Joe Wilson since the Clinton era - nice secret... *** If the secret is that Valerie Plame is married to Joe Wilson, then no, it's not much of a secret. If the secret is that Plame is an agency operative on WMDs, then it was. Posted by: jeff at November 4, 2005 05:44 PM According to Fitgerald, the secret is that Valerie Plame was an employee of the CIA. That is, her employment status with the CIA was classified. Posted by: mcg at November 4, 2005 06:42 PM As I've pointed out before, this does show a distinct lack of security on the Wilson/Plame front. Wilson's use by the CIA would result in people looking deeper into his relatives and acqaintances as intel services are known to recruit such. Posted by: Robin Roberts at November 5, 2005 08:40 AM It seems likely that Plame's cover was blown long before the Novak column, and apparently no one cared much. Why? Was it because she was a mere functionary whose cover was irrelevant? Was it because those who knew were honoring her status as classified information? Did anyone within the CIA take steps to remedy the problem, and if not why not? Mr. Meyers' questions for Mr. Tenet as posted above are interesting indeed. Posted by: Old Dad at November 5, 2005 11:12 AM I have a few questions: The first is whether or not Valerie Plame had been a covert CIA operative during the five years prior to the "leak", Is that so? The second question is why after Alrdich Ames had turned to the Russians, the CIA insisted on using the fictitious company as a cover? I don't recall the name offhand but it would seem that such a company and its employees had been outed by the time of the Aldrich Ames affair. It appears that this cover company was almost as well-known as Air America was in Vietnam. Why was it that Ms. Plame, after her "cover" had been exposed, made a $1000 donation to the Gore campaign and listed her employer as this CIA cover company? That was back in 1999 or 2000. Such donations are a matter of public record. Anyone with access to Google could have taken a look at the employers of the donors and said, "Aha! A CIA person".
