Posted by Bill Dark liberal pot bemoans the unbearable blackness of conservative kettles. Paul Krugman: What Mr. Rove understood, long before the rest of us, is that we're not living in the America of the past, where even partisans sometimes changed their views when faced with the facts. Instead, we're living in a country in which there is no longer such a thing as nonpolitical truth. In particular, there are now few, if any, limits to what conservative politicians can get away with: the faithful will follow the twists and turns of the party line with a loyalty that would have pleased the Comintern. Ah, that mythic "America of the past." This critique from a man whose catalogue of contorted economic posits in service of partisan political goals resembles an unexpurgated copy of the Kama Sutra. Posted by: rbj Just imagine: soon, people on the Internet will have to PAY to see the opinions of Krugman and company at the Old Doddering Gray Lady. Posted by: JohnAnnArbor Forget paying, I won't even spend the 62 seconds it takes to register now. Posted by: Jason with a loyalty that would have pleased the Comintern Projection. Lots o' conservative blogs jumped all over Santorum this week, for instance. The only time liberal blogs do that is when their guys are seen as "retreating," like when they excoriated Durbin for taking back his comparison of our guys to the Nazis. Posted by: JohnAnnArbor As I point out in my post on this bile, the comintern couldn't even agree on what time of day it was much less what communism was all about. http://rightwingnuthouse.com/archives/2005/07/15/paul-krugmans-liver-ailment/ They were the very definition of cacophony. Rick Moran Posted by: superhawk Please check out my illustrative excercise on this very topic in a comment over at Joe Gandelman's blog: http://www.themoderatevoice.com/posts/1121413823.shtml#7967 Posted by: jmaster "...contorted economic posits..." Sorta like watching an octopus orgy, eh? Posted by: N. O'Brain I was just impressed you used the word "unexpurgated." I could guess it's meaning from context, but I had to look it up to be sure. I'm pretty sure I've never seen anyone use that word before. having material deleted; "at that time even Shakespeare was considered dangerous except in the expurgated versions" The best part? I learned Shakespeare was considered dangerous. Who'd have thunk it? Posted by: TallDave See also "unbowlderized." Posted by: Bill from INDC What would an expurgated copy of the Kama Sutra look like, exactly? Posted by: John Tabin It would be shorter and cleaner. "unexpurgated" is the unrated director's cut. Would it be more helpful if I used that vernacular? |
