I Dig It

Posted by Bill

A fascinating look at what makes Lance Armstrong tick:

VN: One former teammate once described him as "one of the unhappiest men I've met." Do you think Lance Armstrong is happy?

DC: He is more driven than happy. As Floyd Landis puts it in the book, "Lance doesn't want to be hugged, he wants to kick everybody's ass."

I've always told people who don't follow cycling and ask me, "What do you think it is that makes LA so much better than everyone in the TdF?"

My answer is always: He likes pain more than anyone else.

I saw this show called "overhaulin'" which is basically where they "steal" someone's car and do a makeover on it. Sheryl Crowe, LA's girlfriend, volunteered Lance's old GTO to me made over. They did a really nice job on it, and Lance was obviously pleased (after getting over his ire that his GF was in on the car being "stolen"). So they get in the car and go for a ride, and you could just *see* Lance restraining his obvious desire to gun the thing and blow everyone off the highway.
