Overheard on CNN

Apparently, this will be the second time that one of the homeowners in New London, Connecticut has had his home taken from him by the area's local government. The first instance took place 35 years ago, when the city declared eminent domain in order to build a seawall - a seawall that was never built.

Sheesh. I bet you that he rents his next place.

UPDATE: Heh.

He must feel like that one family from the Civil War. (I forgot their name). Their home was originally at Manassas. At the end of the war, their home was at Appomattox. "what is this War and why does it keep following me?"

He could always move somewhere with a less grabby local government. I understand there are several states where this sort of eminent domain abuse is already illegal (mine, happily, being one of them).

A friend of mine born in Cuba said his Dad would never buy a house here because of what he went through in Cuba--when Fidel appropriated his house after the revolution. Never thought it could happen here...
