Gosh, You'd Think Drudge Would Have It

Posted by Bill

John Kerry to call for President Bush's impeachment? Well, Al Jazeera thinks so.

Though, I'm not sure how much I trust an analysis that relies on Michael Moore's web site and the Democratic Underground for mainstream sources of internet intelligence. Also, this makes it sound like they have an inordinantly expansive interpretation of a John Kerry statement of resolve:

Failed presidential candidate Kerry advised that he will begin the presentation of his case for President Bush's impeachment to Congress, on Monday.

Kerry said of the memo: "When I go back [to Washington] on Monday, I am going to raise the issue. I think it's a stunning, unbelievably simple and understandable statement of the truth and a profoundly important document that raises stunning issues here at home. And it's amazing to me the way it escaped major media discussion. It's not being missed on the Internet, I can tell you that."

(Thanks to Napoleon)

UPDATE: I'm unsure why Polipundit assigns Al Jazeera such credibility ...

UPDATE: Commenter MarkJ points out that AlJazeera.com is a different entity than AlJazeera.net:

Important note: Aljazeera Publishing and Aljazeera.com are not associated with the controversial Arabic Satellite Channel known as Jazeera Space Channel TV station whose website is Aljazeera.net.

Noted.

Aside from that, the story states that John Kerry plans to bring up impeachment, when his quote suggests no such thing. This is either bad reporting (not including the direct quote that reveals that intent) or propagandizing/sensationalism. I suppose we'll find out on Monday.

Bill, you have to stop reading Newsweek.

Perfect. Let Kerry take the floor and talk thru time that should be used to confirm judges and Bolton. If he would like to filibuster, maybe he could finally sign his form 180 and read his ENTIRE military record into the congressional record...

Bill, note that aljazeera.com is not the same as aljazeera.net

From aljazeera.com:

Important note: Aljazeera Publishing and Aljazeera.com are not associated with the controversial Arabic Satellite Channel known as Jazeera Space Channel TV station whose website is Aljazeera.net.

You might have known this, but I certainly didn't make the distinction at first, so others may be confused as well.

Llamabutchers' BabelFish translations change the whole perspective:

Kerry said of the memo: "if I go from return [ in Washington ] Monday, I will raise the expenditure. I think that it is Betaeuben, an incredibly simple and comprehensible declaration on the truth and a deeply important document which raises here at the house of the astonishing expenditure. And it is astonishing for me the manner which it went ahead of with principal discussion of means. He not nonabsent on that Internet, me can that explain you."

Diana -

That makes a lot more sense than a lot of things Kerry's said.

This morning on NPR I head the head of UPI and a reporter for The Economist make the same prediction.
