Posted by Bill Jane's friend Nabil al-Wazer has been kidnapped, and the Yemeni government may be involved. Please visit this post and perhaps leave a comment to help generate the idea of widespread interest in the case to the right people. Jane is an American blogger who's been actively publishing pro-democracy articles in Middle Eastern publications and cultivating relationships with reformers in the region. Please help her out. UPDATE: He's been released. That was fast. Posted by Bill at May 14, 2005 07:58 PM | TrackBack (0) CommentsThanks very much Bill. And also thanks for telling me I forgot to put the context. Just as the al-Qaeda linked govt of Yemen has been bombing shiite civilian villages in last month and trashing shiite libraries, doing mass arrests in shiite areas, and actually prohibiting shiite sermons, the arrest of Nabil is part of the jihad. He is a prominent leader of the shiite political party. I already have good documentation that many top current yemeni officials were in afghanistan with bin Laden like Ali Mohsen and Zindani who is a major political leader in yemen and was bin Ladens mentor. When the UN asked Yemen to close 144 terrorist bank accounts, they closed one. So its part of the jihad against the shia. This Saleh is a lot like Saddam. Thats why al-Sistani said last week that there is a massacre and a "kind of war" against the shiites in yemen. Its both a violent jihad and a civil jihad. In this case, the police know exactly where Nabil is. The address where he's being held was printed in the newspaper. But they dont go to rescue him. Since Tuesday. Its like the twilight zone.
