Exposure to (Potentially) Uncomfortable Truths About Your Host, Part Three
Posted by Bill I finally caught Ben-Hur the other day, and I've got to tell you, I was rooting for the Romans. They bring a circus, roads, irrigation and various other public works to Palestine, not to mention a sense of style, and what's their thanks? A damn Judean tossing ceramic roof tiles on the head of the new Roman governor, that's what. Not to mention going N'Sync over a mangy street magician handing out water. Rationally, such insolence demands a stern response. Whiny bitches. UPDATE: And Charlton Heston as an ancient Jew? C'mon. By the way, in case John Hawkins is reading - I was just busting your balls about JC, John. Being all ironical. He was cool. It's all cool. Heeeyyy! Posted by Bill at April 26, 2005 10:14 AM | TrackBack (1) CommentsReminds me of the "Life of Brian" scene where they're forming another of the innumerable "resistance groups" against the Romans, and are trying to come up with an anti-Roman platform but first have to dismiss all the good things the Romans do. "OK, so except for Roman sanitation, policing, medical care, roads, festivals, and engineering... Death to the Romans!!" The modern allegories are too obvious to need mentioning. Posted by: TallDave Click on the last link, TD. :-) Posted by: Bill from INDC Hey, if William Shatner can be Jewish, so can Charlton Heston. I mean, can't you just hear it? "Get your farshtinken hands off me, you damned shmootzy ape!!" ;-) Posted by: Sloan I think I figured you and Jeff out. You're the new shock-jocks of the Right blogsphere. I mean, look at the carnage in your wake. Pissed off Ace readers, the ire of John Hawkins, offended gay conservatives (the spice-rack comment), Robert the Llamabutcher called a "dork", the list goes on. You may be successful. But you'll be lonely. A concerned friend. Posted by: Renn Glenolds Don't forget your boy Dan Rhiel, who thinks that making "Spade" jokes about Willis are a-ok. As for the rest of the list, true enough, but one quibble - who the f*** cares about Robert the Llamabutcher?! Posted by: Bill from INDC I mean, really. Posted by: Bill from INDC Finally caught Ben Hur? And how old are you? A couple other flicks you may want to check out: Spartacus and Planet of the Apes (the original one, not the 2001 version. It only counts of Charlton Heston's in it, accept no substitutes.) Posted by: rbj Would this be a bad time to point out that Charlton Heston is in the 2001 version as well? Posted by: Beck Yes. Posted by: Roberts I never saw the '01 version, prefer to not acknowledge its existence. As for CH being in it, well that's just the Alzhiemers. |
