*** Down with American hegemony! Wait, that's not what they're protesting?

*** Even the New York Times is on board!

*** Explore the full context surrounding Chris Rock's Gap/Bannana Republic metaphor at the Oscars.

*** Savor the vapidity of Maureen Dowd. I'll take Kid Rock, thank you.

*** Beautiful, yet dumb; so very, very dumb.

*** And another geek weighs in on the new Battlestar Galactica series.

I've got jury duty - again. And since it's Federal court, I'll be called in intermittently for 2 weeks, until/if I'm selected for a trial. Thus, posting could be even lighter than usual.

I have been a SciFi Addict for 4 decades. I always did think the starting premise of BSG to be on the lame side.

You have been fighting an implacable foe for centuries they offer Peace so of course you place
your home planets and your fleet in a totally undefended position?

Wait a minute this is sounding REAL topical.

A merciless foe who wants complete destruction who would believe they might actually want Peace and Coexistance?

Europe?

Bill,

These ad hominem attacks from the Right like yours on Maureen Dowd, does nothing to help distinguish yourself from the embarrassing wing nuts! If you can't pointedly refute what she had to say on Meet The Press, calling her names certainly doesn't win much respect for opinion.

With such close examination given to Chris Rock's Oscars' riff on Bush, it'd be nice to see such attention be paid to the administration's incomplete budget proposal or the Geneva Convention?

If you're gonna laud an editorial page pronouncement from the NYTimes, you thereby forfeit your right from now on to dismiss out of hand as 'liberal bias', any such citation when offered in an opposing argument.

Yeah, but she's a blathering idiot.

Far from it Bill!

She's a snarky, insightful Pulitzer Prize winning columnist who knows a great deal about the Bushes (yes, I bought Bushworld), from covering them since #41 was Reagan's VP.

Your dilemma is that there is a whole lot of truth in those Meet The Press comments, so much so that you call her a vapid, blathering idiot instead of just plain wrong. Of course then, you'd have to spell out exactly why she's wrong.

No Bill, Ann Coulter is a better choice for vapid, blathering, reckless, hateful, vicious idiot. (Sorry, carried away...) Thankfully, you don't have her blogrolled.

Babygirl, La Shawn Barber on the other hand...

Ann Coulter and Maureen Dowd are two sides of the same coin. You obviously can' see that because you buy into the hatred of teh Bushes.

Her column hasn't been close to insightful in perhaps 10 years; it consists of childish snark, bad jokes, adding sing-songy rhymes to the ends of peoples names, deceptively truncated quotes and distortion of facts, selectively marshalled to make the most superficial arguments of any major columnist that I can think of.

She's a fool.

Bill,

For now, I'll overlook your foolish attempt to compare Ann Coulter to Dowd, and consider most of your slams as personal taste, but the 'distortion of facts' charge is too good to pass up!

Media Matters will soon probably dedicate a separate server to store all the documented evidence against Ms. Coulter! Your mission of course, is to offer up the identical volume against Dowd, in response.

And, before you use the 'liberal partisan bias' cop out to dismiss such evidence, proving your argument with one example would be appropriate and pivotal.

We don't have anything to discuss. If you don't understand that the linked quote:

"... the administration is trying to throw journalist in jail and basically trying to replace the whole press corps with ringers, including male escorts."

... is hyperbolic idiocy, then you are beyond reason.

The "administration" is not trying to throw anyone "in jail," the FBI is investigating a leak BY the Administration. This is an investigation that has consequences AGAINST the administration. DUH.

No one is "trying to replace the whole press corps with ringers, including male escorts," rather ONE "ringer" from a friendly hack entity applied and was granted credentials. It is yet to be deternmined whether or not he was even granted unusual access, much less "planted."

In addition, there is no plurality of "gay escorts." And this would also seem to imply a call for stringent background checks into the personal lives of the white house press. If David Gregory used to hook in his younger days, should the White House boot him?

At which point, Maureen Dowd would rail against the Administration's harsh credentialing standards and invasive criteria.

You are merely defending Dowd because her Bush-hate and nonsensical rantings mesh with your worldview. Thus it never occured with you that your condemnation of Ann Coulter and those that like her was hypocritical.

Seriously, stop embarrassing yourself.
