The Id (Ego and Super-Ego) of the Far Left

Posted by Bill

This is the funniest thing that I've read in ages. A tease:

I'm a republican. I have a condo in Vail, a summer home in Maine, and a beach house in Florida. We don't need any National Parks or protected forests. Fuck you.

I'm a republican. I'm white. I'm perfect, and I'm not like all those brown, yellow and black people. Fuck you.

This is the cliched expression on the most popular leftist political blog on the internet, read by DC Dems in the halls of power, and previously bought as an advocate by the new DNC chair. I'd say that this post buttresses Michael Barone's recent analysis:

So what hath the blogosphere wrought? The left blogosphere has moved the Democrats off to the left, and the right blogosphere has undermined the credibility of the Republicans' adversaries in Old Media. Both changes help Bush and the Republicans.

How do you spell long-term political minority status?

D-a-i-l-y K-o-s.

(Barone link via IP, pleasant screed via LB's)

UPDATED: With expanded spelling ...

Hey, warn us before you link to Kos! Now I have to go take another shower.

Posted by: ScottP [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 09:19 AM

Yeah, what he said.

I don't want to rub it in because I know how awful it is to follow a surprise link that takes you to the netherworld. but c'mon, guys. who else spews that kind of crap? at least wave your cursor over the link and read the url. forewarned is forarmed.

me? I'm just content that guys like Bill have the intestinal fortitude to tie a rope to the doorknob, put a backup flashlight in their most accessible coat pocket, pull on their waders and head down into the caves, so I don't have to. keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and all that.

Man, you guys are wimps. I thought that it was a wildly fun read, myself.

Who wants to bet "Sue in NH" really is white, thinks she's perfect and lives very comfortably with our without multiple homes. The most extreme populist rhetoric is almost inevitably from people who have not had to work terribly hard for what they have got. But maybe that is just a crass stereotype I have developed.

Wow. And I thought Alan Keyes was bad.

Posted by: Dean Esmay [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 10:53 AM

Alan Keyes is certainly in the same league. thank God he's not a blogger. And why the GOP put him up for a run mystifies me - what an embarrassment.

Posted by: Bill from INDC [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 10:55 AM

Bill, Mohammud Ali wouldn't call his fans wimps, he'd just revel in their acknowledgment of his superiority. plus, I admit to being cowardly when it comes to direct contact with whatevered-in-the-wool DUers.

Adorlinoed for My Protection™. I know it's not a job you asked for, but think of the children.

Posted by: tee bee [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 11:02 AM

That was a giggle, even though its at the expense of an obviously mental deficient.

What I've noticed when meeting people like that in real life is that they really don't know any Republicans. They tend to cluster business-wise or socially with other people who think just like them and as with any overwhelming majority "group-think" the more extreme views hold sway.

Most of the time, the Republicans who find themselves caught in the midst of such a group remain silent, either through prudence or politeness.

Poor Sue, she's becoming ever more irrelevant and she still can't figure out why.

For Pete's sake, do you have to lie to make your point? This is a diarist on Kos's site, not Kos. It's untrue to say the expression was "previously bought as an advocate by the new DNC chair," because Dean hired Markos Moulitsas, not a random diarist on his site.

But hey, if we're going to start treating every comment by random liberals as the Word of the Party, we can play with conservatives, too. Here's the newest comment on the newest Little Green Footballs post, as of right now.

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=14692_Religion_of_Peace_Kills_10_Wounds_130#comments

"Islam does not know love, only hatred."

There we go - that's the expression of the Republican party.

garyjohnston -

You are a hoot!

I never indicated that Kos wrote that. Perhaps I should have said D-a-i-l-y K-o-s to be more specific that I was referring to the site. In fact, I'll update it.

And Dean hired Kos, and by his employee's admission, wanted favorable coverage on the site. You can find plenty to complain about at LGF, but there is a world of difference between a blog's "contributor" or "diarist" and a blog's "commenter." A contributor is an official face of the entity.

Don't even get me started on Kos commenters.

The problem with DKos is that mainstream Dems affiliate themselves with a blog that consistently spouts views that are out-of-step from the mainstream. Nancy Pelosi, Dean, various members of Congress, etc.

And do you recall the "screw them" comments of Kos himself? Middle-American Democrats don't like that.

PS - You are just adorable with the "lie" this and "lie" that stuff. Adorable.

Darleen: "That was a giggle, even though its at the expense of an obviously mental deficient."

Well some people *deserve* to be laughed at, especially when they purposely post drivel that foolish.

Posted by: Bucky Katt [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 12:10 PM

I think it's hilarious. They've become so insular that they've lost all ability to check themselves. My hat's off to you, Bill. I wouldn't even bother looking at this stuff---but the humor I've been missing!

Retaliation! I'm a democrat.

They're arrogant; they don't have any respect for their opponents. I think we're somewhere between the pride and the fall.

No offense, but aren't you kind of duplicating teh boilerplate that I'm mocking? Or vice versa?

Posted by: Bill from INDC [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 12:31 PM

Does Michael Jackson have a condo in Vail, perchance?

Posted by: Fausta [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 12:36 PM

Well now I am just totally confused. Michael Barone always seemed intelligent enough, a veritable dictionary of political history, but then I read on a lefty blog this morning that he is an idiot. No explanation was given, he's just an idiot.

Posted by: Pile On [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 12:48 PM

**snort** That was amusing. I just wanted to point out that while I havw no problem visiting Kos for chuckle, my computer seems to. It took 3 tries to load the page, and then it took almost 2 minutes (on broadband with nothing else running but firefox). Guess my computer doesn't like Kos either.

Posted by: Caltechgirl [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 01:13 PM

Wait, aren't the people in Vail democrats? Or is that Boulder, or Denver? Of course, they also have a home in Hollywood.

Posted by: rbj [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 01:28 PM

Man. I thought it was obvious I was mocking the form too. Hm. Yeah, I guess it's hard to ridicule people when they embrace the extremes themselves.

Probably should just call them poopyheads.

Posted by: Matt [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 01:34 PM

Do you get the feeling the Kos poster was channeling this turkey? (WARNING: language).

Posted by: C.Y. [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 02:54 PM

Hey. At least "Sue in NH" got two right.

I'm a republican. I hate taxes. Its my money. I earned it. I don't want to pay to support all you [various slurs].

I'm a republican. I hate you and everything you Democrats stand for, you [bleeping] communists.

Posted by: Xoxotl [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 10:13 PM

"I'm a republican. I hate you and everything you Democrats stand for, you fucking communists. Fuck you."

Interesting... compare this to Howard Dean's recent statement "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for...".

I believe the psychological term for this type of behavior is 'projection' is it not?

Posted by: MrJimm [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 14, 2005 11:30 PM

Hey, we in the VRWC can play this game too.

I'm a Democratic Senator who's seduced his way into fabulous wealth, so I can raise taxes all I want and it won't put a dent in my cash flow. FU.

I run a blog funded by messianic lefty billionaire George Soros so I can spew all the poorly written clap-trap I want to. FU.

I'm a plagiarizing fake Indian pseudo-intellectual professor with tenure, so I can ladle out crap to my students 'til the cows come home. FU.

MrJimmm :

Bingo! Post that on Kos's site. These people are so wrapped up in their own hateful stink they can't smell the roses anymore.

Posted by: Presstopia [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 15, 2005 12:20 AM

I'm an old-moneyed bloated Democratic Senator who murdered a girl a few years back, and I still get re-elected, so fuck you!

I'm a haggard Democratic Senator from California and I'm a woman so I can cry to get my way, so fuck you!

I'm a big moonbat blogger who's too good to be in the military (fascists!) or work as a contractor, so SCREW YOU!
