Eason Jordan Updates

So many links ...

Malkin is tearing this story up. She snagged eyewitness accounts from David Gergen and Barney Frank, and points to another one in this post.

She's not quite pleased with Howard Kurtz's belated coverage of Jordan's comments:

Well, that was underwhelming. Not much new in the story (except the cozy access to Jordan) that you didn't already read around the blogosphere.

Neither is Captain Ed, Mickey Kaus, or Hugh Hewitt.

And via Captain Ed, we learn in a NY Sun article that Eason Jordan made more torture allegations against US soldiers at Davos:

In an interview with The New York Sun, Mr. Frank said Mr. Jordan discussed in detail the plight of an Al-Jazeera reporter who had been detained by American forces, was made to eat his shoes while incarcerated in the Abu Ghraib prison, and was repeatedly mocked by his interrogators as "Al-Jazeera boy."

A man who said he was a producer with Al-Jazeera at the network's headquarters in Doha, Qatar, said he was unaware of any such incident, "although we have had problems with American troops in and out of Iraq." The Al-Jazeera producer refused to give his name.

Read the whole thing.

LaShawn Barber has another rich round-up.

Get started on your homework and we'll meet back here to discuss.

Not mocked?! Oh the horror of an Al-Jazeera reporter being mocked. However will he go back to slandering US troops and distorting their actions again?

Well, the funny thing is, there seems to be no proof or witnesses to concretely assert that the incident even happened.

Yo Bill.

yeah, it was intersting, i spoke to the Aj guys in Qatar at what must have been an un-godly hour for them. fortunately, the guy at the front desk--who knew zero for english--connected me to a guy who said he was a producer. here's my thought: if the detention and brutalization happened to a reporter of theirs, they would have made a very big deal. I suspect we would have heard much more about it.

I'm sure. Or at least given their names.
