Eason Jordan at CNN
Posted by Bill For the uninitiated to the Eason Jordan scandal, CNN's chief news executive made offhand accusations at the World Economic Forum in Davos that US soldiers were deliberately targeting and killing journalists in Iraq. And today we learn that it's apparently not the first time: In any event, it's an assertion Mr. Jordan has made before. In November, as reported in the London Guardian, Mr. Jordan said, "The reality is that at least 10 journalists have been killed by the U.S. military, and according to reports I believe to be true journalists have been arrested and tortured by U.S. forces." This is very serious stuff, if true. Yet aside from Mr. Jordan's occasional comments, there's no evidence to support it. There have been some mealy-mouthed statements coming from CNN employees and Jordan himself, but this judgment from Instapundit really made me sit up in my chair: Jordan needs to stop hiding behind the PR people and explain what he was talking about. Or resign. It's probably time for late-adopters like me to take notice. A good round-up of the blogswarm around this issue can be belatedly found here. UPDATE: Hugh Hewitt has an up-to-date round-up.
