State of the Union Quick Reaction
Posted by Bill Wow. The sight of the Iraqi woman raising a shaking, blue-stained finger and later hugging the mother of the fallen Marine - stunning. On the flipside, CNN's cameras noted that Barbara Boxer neglected to applaud when Bush cited the courage of the Iraqi people. UPDATE: In CNN's post-SOTU commentary, Wonkette just compared the image of the Iraqi woman to the use of imagery in Fahrenheit 9/11. My distaste for this woman only grows stronger. Posted by Bill at February 2, 2005 10:02 PM | TrackBack (2) Commentswonkette has no real place in life. i mean think about it. she's famous for something another girl did. she's. got. nothin. Posted by: mlah That was an amazing SOU. Watching the Dems reminds me about a truth about liberals - part of the reason they hate Bush is they simply cannot believe he is a decent man. Summarized well here: Posted by: DPHall did someone mention swwnbnol? no. I didn't think so. not tonight, anyway; it'd just be poor taste after that great speech. unless you're Nancy Pelosi. Posted by: tee bee The problem is that the moment appeared highly and genuinely emotional to both women, so the propaganda stuff doesn't hold water. DPHall, Posted by: MaxedOutMama I so enjoyed the SOTU address I wasn't going to spoil it watching the plastic Inaction Figures of Pelosi and Reid. Wonkette really said that? I didn't think anything that #@&!# excuse for a female could do or say would ever shock me, but ... Posted by: Darleen Every time I see Wonkette I am torn by the conflicting desires: to sleep with her or to light her on fire. Posted by: Spade Mama: You give more credit to Reid that I would or do. I used to think it was about differing views, but now I think it is about good and evil. I know that seems outrageous, but actions mean things and the actions of the left have become unhinged. Posted by: DPHall Are you saying that Wonkette is WRONG? Are you saying that the image of the Iraqi woman wasn't a contrived image intended to persuade a la F 9/11? Or do you just like attacking her? Posted by: Don Myers Of course the image was emotional and intended to persuade. But there are a few glaring errors with the Michael Moore analogy, mostly around intent and execution. Moore is a lying sack of shit, and many of us think that the emotion pictured last night represents something that was very real. Let me ask you: was Nazi propaganda and American propaganda during WWII directly analogous? To make anything else than a cynical point that they were both propoganda? (and no, I don't think that Moore's quite as bad a Nazi propaganda) Now please go troll somewhere else, Don. Your challenges are predictable and I don't have time to babysit you every thread. Posted by: Bill from INDC I am trying to become known for the phrase: "Wonkette - the Paris Hilton of the Blogosphere!" Must credit Electric Megaphone... Posted by: Parker Bill- Must be her looks...Too bad they don't translate well to the written word. Some people are witty and work it well. Others, not so much. Posted by: Scoob I don't get it. What is it with Wonkette's "looks"? Ok, compared to say... Glenn Reynolds, she is smokin'. Compared to most other women, she's middle of the pack at best. And that does not compensate for NOT being funny. Posted by: Hoodlumman DPHALL, I don't think you can slice and dice truth to create a picture of reality comfortable or pleasing to yourself and remain a moral being. The UN's declaration that there has been no genocide in Sudan is one example. But I also maintain that Bush, while he is a decent man, has some blindspots, and that not all he has done is right. 62 million Americans can't agree with the left's picture of Bush or his policies. Let that be your comfort. Posted by: MaxedOutMama TO: Bill "Holland Tunnel" /end message Posted by: TC-LeatherPenguin I saw her with Sullivan, and her 15 minutes is about up. Her snarky comments were out of place, incoherent and not funny. She is rarely funny in her blog. She's the type of girl who seems interesting only after a few drinks. Posted by: PJ for some cosmically ironic reason, I've seen ms. Cox on news shows a few times while I was flipping through the channels. I stopped to see what she had to say. not much, so I can't figure out where the mileage is coming from. who knew a sitemeter would get talent bookers excited when the person has nothing to say if they can't first craft it in writing? |
