"Before Sniper Struck, Platoon Leader Was Encouraging Iraqis to Vote"
Posted by Bill A very moving article from the WaPo: The inherent danger of the mission was driven home at 3:30 p.m. A single shot rang out, and 1st Lt. Nainoa K. Hoe, 27, the popular leader of the 2nd Platoon, C Company, 3rd Battalion of the 21st Infantry Regiment, fell dead in the street. UPDATE: As commenter johnd1 writes: The article was so well written that I had to check the masthead to make sure it wasn't a blog. The article is long, but a must read. Agreed, it's excellent. The WaPo offers many great pieces that tend to offset my ire at the bad ones. Overall, they smoke the NYT. With apologies to the beach Boys Can't say it enough "God Bless the Men & Women who wear the uniform to protect and defend us" Posted by: TIM C The article was so well written that I had to check the masthead to make sure it wasn't a blog. The article is long, but a must read. Steve Fainaru is a rare example of what the MSM is capable of. I wrote the WaPo to congratulate them on it. Posted by: johnd01 Such a wonderful and sad story. Thanks for pointing me to it. Posted by: Jeremy That was so sad, but written so beautifully. Tears are streaming down, but I'm linking to the article, thanks for the tip. I have to agree with the other poster, this is worth a quick note to WaPo. Posted by: kathianne |
