Technical Bleg
Posted by Bill Does anyone know how to record both ends of a Yahoo (or other) voice chat conversation? Or some sort of internet telephony with very clear quality? Please drop a comment or e-mail with settings/software recommendations. And please, if you're speculating, please be confident and specific with your help; I'm like a dog chasing its tail, and "maybe this and that" will just cause me to spin faster. And puke on the rug. Thanks. Posted by Bill at January 26, 2005 09:38 PM | TrackBack (1) Commentstry this. It's free: Posted by: ProfShade Ummm, I think I might know, I'm not really sure, but I could try to figure out if I know if you want me to. I think. Posted by: Vik Rubenfeld Probably the cheap and dirty way to do it is to set the mic to be included in the ouput and then record on line-out. Basically, it would require you to put the recorder between the computer and your headset/speakers, like recording traditional phone conversations. If you prefer doing it digitally, there may be a way to record line-out without changing the input on the soundcard mixer (which should be set to mic or line-in). Hope this helps :) Klaus Posted by: Klaus Guenther In the speculation category, if you have a PC, I've heard all sorts of great things about Total Recorder's ability to handle streamed audio. It seems that the Yahoo! chat would come under that. It's shareware, so you can try it out first. You might have to tweak things to get both ends of the convo, though. http://www.highcriteria.com/ (Full Disclosure: Username gotten via BugMeNot because I haven't registered for TypeKey and I'm trying to leave for work.) -Patrick O'Leary Posted by: cypherpunk I second the Total Recorder recommendation. Happy user for 2 years now. They continue to provide me free upgrades. Posted by: S. Clarke I was unable to record both ends of teh conversation with Total Recorder and USB Mics, so unless you can specifically tell me how ... (it only records the mic on my computer when I have it plugged in and speak, and it only records the incoming sound from the person on the other end when my mic is unplugged and they speak) Posted by: Bill from INDC Okay, just what the hell are you and Goldstein up to anyway? Sounds like it has national security implications... Posted by: JWebb JWebb: I was wondering the same thing...what a couple of teases these two are. ;-) Posted by: Beth the VRW Conspirator |
