... is the time on Sprockets where we "play mind games."

(Via Flea, who endlessly skirts the fine, dangerous line between enlightened musical taste and disturbing Eurotrash sensibility. I think he veered right over the f'ing edge with this one.)

UPDATE: I think that may be an interpretive dance report by internal UN investigators of the Oil-For-Food scandal.

I can't believe you did that to us!

Hey, I'm just playing "mind games." Tonight.

Blech! Flea reeled me in a while ago when a Depech Mode song was linked ... but ever since, Euro-crap whenever I check.

Well, to be fair, Depeche Mode ain't far off ...

Is Europe so obsessed with techno that even marginally talented artists are rewarded for seeming "enlightened," much the same way bad American hip-hop artists are rewarded for seeming to have "street cred?"

It looks like genre popularity complicates the process of seperating the wheat from the chaff...

(Bill - I know you're just fuckin' with us. This is my attempt to elevate the intellectual value of your entry;)

Well, it's hard for me to assess, since Depeche Mode is so tied to my formative years ... but I think they are a cut above some of the techno crap I've heard here and there lately.

I don't know what possessed me to go back there again, but I did get a certain feeling.

That guy is about one Miss Clairol #163d away from being Marilyn Manson.

Theres something familiar there.

Actually, Europe rewards only marginally talented artists (Jerry Lewis, anyone?). All the big talents head to the U.S.A. for their rewards.

And some marginal talents too (Elton John, anyone?).

You see Sven Vath's genius. By seemingly embracing the cliches of Euro-pop, he is underscoring its excruciating banality. Would you like to touch my monkey? Touch him! Love him! Liebe meine abst-monkey!

Yeah, I thought of that. It's entertaining, no matter how you slice it.

At least the robo-ninja-babes were fairly easy on the eyes. (Despite the "Pulled from from Prince William Sound after the Exxon Valdez crashed" look they had...)

I thought the dancers reminded me of the gimp from Pulp Fiction.

Yeah, the gimp from pulp fiction meets madonna in the human nature vid. (in other words, the gimp from pulp fiction with breasts)
