Ominous Sign
Posted by Bill Let the fence-mending begin. According to a Broadcasting & Cable source in Washington, D.C., CBS News president Andrew Heyward, along with Washington bureau chief Janet Leissner, recently met with White House communications director Dan Bartlett, in part to repair chilly relations with the Bush administration. The fact that CBS sent Andrew Heyward to make nice wouldn't seem to foreshadow him being held accountable after the release of their internal investigation on Rathergate. As for whether or not CBS has/had an agenda against the President ... Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C. I'd hope that Bartlett mentioned these transgressions during Heyward's protestations of innocence. UPDATE: Scylla & Charybdis has a transcript of the meeting.

Mr. Heyward almost literally spits in the eye of the President by claiming neither he nor Rather, nor CBS are anti-Bush. And all this while the promised report into "Rathergate" gathers LOTS of moss on some back burner....or perhaps it is already in the CBS black hole of cleansing, being sanitized so readers of the eventually-released portion will find there was never even a story by Rather at all. It was a foreign power utilizing CBS airwaves illegally....most likely Isreal! If not so pathetic,it would be hilarious! Duke Posted by: Duke of DeLand ...they'll publish it as soon as it's faxed to them from Kinkos. Heh. And, welcome back! Posted by: leelu If they really want a good working relationship with the Bush Administration -- which they ineptly tried to remove from office with their phony reporting -- a bare minimum start would be to fire Dan Blather immediately. Posted by: Van Helsing The only thing that thw white House should welcome from Andrew Heyward is copy of thie letter of resignation from CBS News. Say bye-bye Andy. David |
