Important Bleg
Posted by Bill Does anyone know a way to contact the folks that run/ran Bloghosts? Because if something like this happened to me, I'd be pretty upset. Posted by Bill at December 14, 2004 12:49 PM | TrackBack (2) CommentsYou won't be able to get ahold of Jace. Nobody can. He registered everybody's domain names in his own name as well. Posted by: floridacracker Try (803)546-5687. That's the number that appears on my visa statement. It's rolled to voice mail the three times I've tryed it. I've just resigned myself to having to move to a new URL. All three of my readers will be no doubt be confused but the'll just have to figure it out. Posted by: keggin For what it's worth, his archives for the first half of February 2004 are still available through the Wayback Machine here. If he only started it this year, that's over 4%. Might be worth saving, even if he's not the second best new blog. Posted by: Raving Atheist Marc, you listening? Thanks y'all. Raving Atheist - even if he's not the second best new blog Damn you, buddy. Damn you straight to ... oh, nevermind, that stick's not quite gonna work on you, now is it? Posted by: Bill from INDC This happened to me too. I already had to get a new domain name... I just resigned myself to the move. After 5 emails, I gave up. Posted by: jdunavin Yeah, I got a new one too. He did a good job up until the part where he crashed and burned and took everyone's domain names with him. Posted by: floridacracker Fortunately, my domains are held elsewhere. Do any of you have any expertise in moving from one host to another without losing all your legacy posts, comments etc.? Posted by: SteveL Had the same issue here, although I had an automated backup running via cron on my bloghosts account. Since moving, I can no longer access it via my URL because I moved it, but I do know that that particular server is still up and running because I get my backup via email every single day still. I sent in for a refund (per their statement) probably a month ago and have heard nothing yet. Unfortunate situation, but hey - businesses fail all the time. Posted by: King of Fools |
