Not only does it do very little to alleviate the problems that Bush citied in the campaign--the incredible amount of time and money that simply complying with the current system consumes--but it actually strikes me as harmful. I would agree to pay the same amount I annually pay in taxes, and add to it half the amount I annually pay my accountant, if I no longer had to pay an accountant. An Islamic militant group in Iraq is warning Muslims to skip the country's upcoming elections, saying anyone who runs for office would be branded an infidel and "punished in the name of God."
