Goodnight Dan
Posted by Bill Our favorite newsman: DAN RATHER: One would expect that the blogging machine which the White House and the Bush-Cheney campaign has used for any number of purposes over their four years will start now, if it hasn't started already, to say, listen, Kerry-Edwards, for the good of the country, need to concede. Listen Dan, for the good of the country and CBS News, "the blogging machine" implores you to to concede your job. You're hurting America. Via Ace, who says: Now, Dan: When you malign thousands of amateur analysts and writers, each of whom acts independently and without pay, as being in the service of the White House and under its control ("used... for any number of purposes," you say), and without any evidence whatsoever to prove that: UPDATE: The Llamas: get on up
Posted by Bill at November 3, 2004 09:30 AM | TrackBack (12) CommentsOn the MSM topic; this morning I was listening to Don Imus' radio show at 6am. Imus apparently ran into Tom Brokaw on the street sometime around 5am. Brokaw's comment to Imus? "What a nightmare! That says it all. What a bunch of spoiled children these Dems/MSM/etal Pffft. Posted by: notthisgirl at November 3, 2004 09:33 AM to Dan Rather:Bush wins we have an unimpeachable source...a guy I met at Starbucks this morning who met a woman named ..Lucy Ramirez.. this morning at a garage sale and she vouched for it.And remember, no one has questioned our basic premise..that you,are past your sell by date Posted by: john morrissey at November 3, 2004 09:39 AM The dissembling by the Kerristas and their fellow travelers in the MSM is breathtaking. I don't think even CA grows enough sour grapes to supply the w[h]ine they are drinking. They must be importing the balance from France. Posted by: Darleen at November 3, 2004 09:43 AM Does Dan literally think that there's machine -- you know, with gears and buttons and levers and a plug? It wouldn't surprise me. And over "four years"? Wasn't 2000 even pre-Instapundit? Rather should really consult with some technology experts (Bill Glennon, Richard Katz or Marcel Matley) before he opines on such matters. Posted by: Tim Worstall at November 3, 2004 09:46 AM It was an added plus to flick back to Dan every few minutes and watch him slowly shrink and wither like the picture of Dorian Grey. Chris Mathews seemed to shrink and trun into stone as well as the night progressed. Posted by: Jane at November 3, 2004 09:47 AM Susan Estrich's distress was fun to watch, too. Apparently her voice changes from Carol Channing to Scarlet O'Hara when she's panicked. Posted by: The Raving Atheist at November 3, 2004 09:56 AM I was feeling magnanimous, but now I think we need some kind of Blog Tribunal to try and punish him for his media crimes. Posted by: The Raving Atheist at November 3, 2004 09:58 AM Did you notice how many times Dan "slipped" last night and use the term "we" when referring to the Skedwards Democratic side? Posted by: degrees_of_truth at November 3, 2004 09:59 AM Dan Rather? Who's that? Posted by: willem at November 3, 2004 10:19 AM "If we could tune into the internet". I caught this comment while I was drinking coffee. Henceforth I will not drink coffee while reading comments. This is like that Dole quote: "The internet is a great way to get on the net." The coffee was purchased at Starbucks. The barrista glumly informed me that after yesterday, he wants to move to Australia. I hadn't the heart to mention Howard's overwhelming recent re-election. I mean, you don't screw with the man making your coffee. Posted by: Sciszor at November 3, 2004 10:24 AM I hadn't the heart to mention Howard's overwhelming recent re-election. BWA-hahahahahahahahaha! Hey isn't Bradley supposed to be "hip?" I mean, he has that earring and everything ... Posted by: Bill from INDC at November 3, 2004 10:34 AM sciszor - never mess with the person makin' your coffee. Even if it soon will be a downsized 70+ plus year old male tv anchor... 'damn, these bloggers are using that wireless laptop-a-magiggy we installed in our coffee shop. They're EVERYWHERE!!' Llamas forgot... HEH! Posted by: OneDrummer at November 3, 2004 10:58 AM FOX news, via AP, is just reporting that JFK is calling Pres. Bush to conceed! Posted by: Babs at November 3, 2004 11:08 AM To be fair, ole Shep at Fox News was playing the pom pom boy for Bush/Cheney, although awkwardly. On a serious note, I consider the legitimization of the blog world to be an advancment in the practice of democracy not otherwise. The mourning we see among the dinosaurs of the MSM has more to do with the erosion of their monopoly on information delivery and lock on the public consciousness than it does with the defeat of John Kerry in particular. Kerry was a weak candidate all along, if he had won, it would have been that the MSM had made him the victor. His loss is a loss of prestige for old media. Posted by: John at November 3, 2004 11:18 AM Just think, in 2008, neither Rather nor Brokaw will be around anymore to make fools of themselves. The world is changing. Posted by: MD at November 3, 2004 11:28 AM What's the beef, Dan? Didn't your guy Al invent the Internet? Remember the Information Superhighway? Is that a bad thing now? Gee, Dan, I'm so confused by you. Posted by: Retread at November 3, 2004 11:32 AM It's time for a MOVEMENT! I've taken the initiative. Go over to http://www.lockjawslair.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=148 and get an image to include on your site to call for Dan Rather to concede his job. I welcome a better graphic from someone who IS a graphics whiz, because I'm not. Posted by: Lockjaw the Ogre at November 3, 2004 11:35 AM Oh.. while reading the above comments a new phrase came to mind: Corpolitical Racketeering. "News" (when offered for sale or provided for a fee) should arguably fall within the well established principles of consumer protection law (if not RICO} given the way NEWS is a commercial product used to drive ratings, revenues and advertising rates. When such reportage is willfully wrong, deceptive or withholds known material fact for the purpose of aiding a deception, it's not unlike printing counterfeit money and getting away with it. I am not saying the MSM has crossed this line, but given the treatment of certain issues in this last campaign, I have begun to wonder just where that line is. Dialogue, hearsay, opinion and speculation represent the honest, healthy perview of the Blogosphere -- spontaneous interactive thought and discussion in pursuit of topical awareness. Contrarily, the MSM is self-admittedly selling a unilateral, produced form of "judged fact" as "NEWS." Deceptive acts -- of omission or commission -- are of reasonable concern to society, especially when prior guilty knowledge of the deception may be involved in the sale of a product or service. The MSM has more than a few questions to answer regarding the conduct and ignore-ance displayed in this election cycle. Such concerns of potential Corpolitical misconduct is not just about News, but includes the matrix of Consulting Firms, NGOs, 501(c)3s, 527s and other Corporate entities which, unlike Americans, do not vote but exploit the election cycle to sell products and services associated therewith. Don't be seduced into seeing ourselves as a nation of abstract entities and groups. We are not. We are a nation of individual people. To lose track of that is to dehumanize the most precious aspect of our national being. G_d forbid such a thing as "Corpolitical Racketeering" ever take hold of our political process. Posted by: willem at November 3, 2004 11:40 AM Hey isn't Bradley supposed to be "hip?" I mean, he has that earring and everything ... I have earrings; although I was in a suit, I think my "hip factor" was sufficient for the barrista to confide in me concerning his plans for relocation. Which is unfortunate, because he makes a really good latte. My name is Sciszor, and I am a metrosexual. Posted by: Sciszor at November 3, 2004 11:43 AM CBS looked so OLD last night. Old and tired, like the old media they represent. Posted by: Pegleg at November 3, 2004 12:01 PM I wasn't aware that we were being paid or even sanctioned by the GOP. If so where is my check for $13.45 a month for typepad costs? :) Posted by: William Teach at November 3, 2004 12:26 PM $13.45 a month? BASTARDS. Posted by: Tim Worstall at November 3, 2004 05:15 PM |
