George W. Bush wins.

Thank you, America.

Congratulations, President Bush.

Please keep your promise ...

... to them ...

... and them.

We've given you the mandate to finish the job. Don't let us down - and good luck.

UPDATE: Commenters: humor is fine, triumphal jokes/statements are encouraged and healthy, but watch the nasty tone of any comments; I'll clean house accordingly. "The Democrats are the Party of Satan?" Do you realize how stupid and insane that sounds?

Keep that stuff outta here. Otherwise, ice-cold Mickeys Big Mouths are on me.

Do the math. Its over in Ohio.
Do the math. Its over in the House.
Do the math. Bush Wins!!

Posted by: SpinMD at November 3, 2004 03:33 AM

Tough to go through, but historic. We have won.
Bill, good job on your work to keep water-headed indecision out of the War on Terror--I sincerely hope you saw Rather's coverage when Bush hit 249.

ps. see Wonkette interviewed by Brokaw?--priceless.

Posted by: T Marcell at November 3, 2004 03:39 AM

George Bush Won - but - the MSM and Kerry camp are not finished with us. The comment made on ABC at around 2 a.m. CST was that "we" are working with the Kerry campaign to determine if Ohio is in the Bush column.

THIS IS NOT OVER as far as the MSM is concerned - get ready for tomorrow!

Congratulations to the fantastic bloggers - you got GWB elected and showed where the power really was and it wasn't the MSM - IT WAS YOU!! GOD BLESS! Don't let your guard down.

We won the electoral vote, the polular vote, enlarged the mayority in the Senate and in the House of Representatives, can any one tell why all the Democrats interviewed by Fox kept telling that
since the victory seems so slim Bush should govern from the Center?

Posted by: Happy Girl at November 3, 2004 04:14 AM

Incredible victories: the White House, Senate, House, Governorships. Just incredible. And now we can look forward to the icing on the cake, the Rathergate report. (tee hee)
And yes, a big thank you to Bill and other bloggers who have directly helped to pulled out a victory from the clutches of the MSM and saved Vietnam vets from the four years of hurt and anger that a Kerry victory would have inflicted.

Posted by: mikem at November 3, 2004 04:58 AM

when will the ohio thing be over? especially with 169,000+ for W per Ohio's secy of State? Just what are the Dems gonna do?

Posted by: gray/silver fox at November 3, 2004 05:15 AM

Congratulations to W. First President since his father in 1988 to win an absolute majority of the popular vote (something Clinton and Gore never did).

And good-bye Tom Daschle. The stake is in the heart.

Things couldn't any better.

The only Dem I saw who acknowledged this reality was Carville on CNN. At least he is touch with reality.

Posted by: MD at November 3, 2004 07:06 AM

Has Michael Moore conceded yet?

With any good fortune, a massive coronary is forthcoming for the blimp.

Vote or Die, huh? I guess alot of the "hip-hop community" will be gunned down in drivebys today.

Rock this vote!

Was it just me or did it seem that Susan Estrich was tanked up on something when she appeared of Fox News last night? She had a noticeable southern accent and was more hostile than usual when Britt hume jokingly called her a know-it-all.

Posted by: Jim at November 3, 2004 07:35 AM

Oh, come on, David! What did Satan do to deserve that?!

Posted by: Robert Crawford at November 3, 2004 08:10 AM

Without the wmendacious MSM, Kerry would have been buried in a landslide. What can we do to stop the power of the MSM in molding the electorate?

Posted by: E. Ireland at November 3, 2004 08:12 AM

Bravo to the good guys. And that includes bloggers like you, Bill. Your site--and Powerline, Hewitt, Roger Simons, Ace, NRO, etc.--should be commended for the yeoman's job you've done during this election season. You've been like antidotes to a particularly loathesome poison.

Oh, and yeah, the contribution check is in the mail. Really!

How long do you think Edwards spent on his hair before he appeared at 3 am to say 'Is not!'?

Yay Bush!

I voted in the Rosslyn area - took me about 90 minutes to get through the hordes of Kerry supporters. The lone Bush rep that was handing out little flyers wasn't so much harassed as much as laughingly tolerated. I leaned over and said "there are 2 of us now." The smile I got in return was worth the wait.

Katie Couric was wearing black. It's Over.

Posted by: sonofnixon at November 3, 2004 08:42 AM

according to the dems...in the 1990's ev's mattered most, in 2000 popular vote mattered most now it appears exit polls matter most. why even bother having the silly elections?

Posted by: w at November 3, 2004 08:51 AM

I still don't understand why Kerry won't concede. He mathmatically can't win in Ohio, and he isn't going to take Iowa, NM, or Nevada either it appears.

Bush won with 51% of the vote, something Clinton never did. He is ahead by over 4 million, if those 500,000 in 2000 were important, then surely 4 million are.

Kerry needs to realize it is over, and go back to Mass.

A question for InDC people: is this enough of a mandate for the administration to start talking seriously about the viability of the UN, as currently constructed?

Posted by: Baron Bodissey at November 3, 2004 09:22 AM

Dems will introduce a proposed constitutional amendment. Presidents will be chosen, not by electoral votes or popular vote, but by exit polls.

Yes, Susan Estrich did the meltdown last night. She bought totally into the exit poll fantasy, and when that collapsed she went haywire.

Posted by: MD at November 3, 2004 09:26 AM

heh....my dad just told me on the phone (he is in southern Ohio), he asked me if i am seeing how Bush is trying to steal the election....

I just said, yeah, ok.....

What are the exact numbers in Ohio (Repubs vs. Dems vs. provisional ballots)??

Posted by: MythicalMino at November 3, 2004 09:27 AM

I think we should start checking the real estate listings in Brentwood and Beverly Hills .. there may be some bargains as all the celebs that threatened to move out of the country start packing .... right?

One final thought:

Maybe, just maybe, the Viet Nam war is finally over.

Wednesday morning: Dow futures up over 100.

Posted by: MD at November 3, 2004 09:30 AM

MythicalMino -- Fox has for Ohio:
Bush 2,794,346 (51%)
Kerry 2,658,125 (49%)

A question for InDC people: is this enough of a mandate for the administration to start talking seriously about the viability of the UN, as currently constructed?

I don't anticipate the President bothering to rebuild it. I would, but I can't see them making the push. They'll use it selectively and ignore it at other points. And now that Bush has been re-elected and already moved without them in Iraq, his sway with them (or at least their fear of him) will grow exponentially.

A question for InDC people: is this enough of a mandate for the administration to start talking seriously about the viability of the UN, as currently constructed?

I agree with Bill that Bush will not bother trying to rebuild UN. Actually, what it needs isn't rebuilding, since it's truly broken: think in bankruptcy terms: a reorganization where the creditors -- i.e. the adult countries like the US and Britain -- take over from the incompetent managment by third world types like Kofi Annan and the general assembly.

What I'd do with the UN is keep our Security Council seat to veto whatever we think is idiotic -- and be much more aggressive about it -- but tell the UN to move out of New York and otherwise ignore it. If the UN were not in New York, it would simply not get the publicity it does now.

In addition, I'd cut off all funding until there was a complete and open accounting for the Oil-for-Food scandal. I'd love to see Annan and his son, as well as Bevan, be offered the choice of allowing themselves to be criminally prosecuted or being declared persona non grata and given 72 hours to leave the country.

Posted by: CatoRenasci at November 3, 2004 09:48 AM

CatoRenasci -- your prescription is more like what I was thinking of. The UN can do an awful lot of malicious mischief (e.g. Oil-for-Fraud) even if we mostly ignore it.

#1 priority: Defund it.

You can kiss Al-Baradei good-bye.

What an amazing election. This lifelong Democrat who became a Republican on 9/12/01 has never seen anything like it.

I am happy to report that I got my lifelong Democrat wife to vote Bush, as well as her elderly Jewish Parents in Miami to vote Bush!

The democrats better get onto the right side of the terrorism/Stand up for Israel issue or they will continue to lose Jewish voters.

So, for the good of the country and reconcilliation I hope we can be magnanimous in victory.

Go easy in the next few weeks on your leftie friends - they have thin skins.

Bill,
Just a personal note of thanks for your insights and humor. Hope you get promoted to captain in the pajamahadeen!

Posted by: Kathy at November 3, 2004 10:42 AM

Now watch the UN elect Clinton as Secy General to serve as counterpoint to Bush...oh god no...

Posted by: bloviatrix at November 3, 2004 11:14 AM

Boy, do I feel like a loser. Apart from getting the local school board guy I wanted, there is not much to smile about today. The only other bright spot is Salazar's win in Colorado (and Obama, but that was expected).

About the UN, they definitely need some straightening out. But many countries will see it as a way to have some power over the U.S. The fights going on within the IMF and World Bank lately show the ability of the developing nations to join together to oppose what they see as the U.S. and developed nations taking advantage them and their resources. Bill has raised some interesting points about the conflicts of interest among the members of the Security Council, and Bush may have to address them.

Posted by: Rollins at November 3, 2004 11:40 AM

Rollin -

Graceful in defeat.

The keys to Dem success lie in the WaPo analysis linked on my post titled "Recommended Reading."

Strong, practical defense - purge the Moores - and the Dems will become viable again.

Posted by: Bill from INDC at November 3, 2004 11:49 AM

It's a mandate.

Most votes ever for a President

1st time a Candidate has won a majority since 1988.

A decidely Republican Senate and House

Therefore a Mandate.

Oh yeah, Screw France, and the Terrorists, your day is coming and soon.

Ok folks, it's fantastic to win a great battle like this, but the war for '08 is just beginning. An even worse monster is on the horizon and She is one of the few in the Dem Party who is smiling today. Let's make sure we can get some things done now with a SOLID majority in both the House and the Senate, so we can convince the electorate that Republican is the way to continue voting in the future. Remember, the Hildabeast is going to be even tougher to beat....

Posted by: Right Wing Pilot at November 3, 2004 04:30 PM

Right Wing Pilot makes a good point that I've been pondering for awhile. I see Billary as THE most polarizing figure in politics today, so I don't think she stands a chance, unless in a Bush/Perot/Clinton type split. Honestly, I don't see her as someone I'd sit and have an O'Doul's with. I think the dynamic is so different now from 1992 when the MSM waxed up Clinton's image and watched his flanks and shoe-horned him right into the Oral Orafice. But if 2004 is wired and free imagine what 2008 will be! I salute, whole-heartedly, unreservedly, and unabashedly the bloggers that kept the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth in the webeye when the MSM was trying to bury it. INDC had, what I feel, was the BEST expose and linked resources on the CBS/Rather TANG memo fraud! Without the bloggers, I would not have been armed with knowledge of the fraudulent campaign of John Kerry and his co-conspirators in the MSM, which I spread "liberally" to all my associates and family (see? I'm a liberal!) I know you don't want to get the "big head", but let me say you and everyone who kicked in information and expertise, really did this country a tremendous service in counteracting the bullcrap the MSM was pushing. Of course, this assessment would probably sound a lot different on Josh Marshall's site... BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!
I toast you!

I am utterly thankful that Tom DaShrill was defeated. He ticked me off every time he opened his mouth to bleat. He appeared to get shriller each time.

Posted by: Maranna at November 3, 2004 05:40 PM

I was just listening to E. J. Dionne (sp?) on NPR giving the LLL excuses. "There will be no healing... the speech I thought summed it up was John Edwards's... this campaign was characterized by vicious, personal attacks on Senator Kerry..."
Okay, where the hell is the mention that A) Kerry's campaign had already conceded two points the SBVT had charged, then started hiding the candidate from even the MSM to avoid addressing the questions. B) The MSM attack on the President with fake memos to discredit, libel is the word, his service in the Texas Air National Guard. I could go on, but blog readers already KNOW where the dirt came from. That NPR put two partisan MSM hacks as "commentators" on the air shows that they're trying to vent all their frustrations and, in some way, try to hang another bogus "illegitimate" label on the President's victory. The shame is that to make this charge in 2004, they have to insult the integrity of 51% of the electorate! I hope Bill, here, can hire some GOOD, FAIR, OBJECTIVE reporters... unless the NYT, WaPo and others are just trying to become "boutique" businesses it looks like an opportunity for someone with REAL integrity to step up and lead Journalism into the new century.

Posted by: Mistercalm at November 3, 2004 06:27 PM

Then again, who wants to take a pay cut to be a journalist? Besides, he does one heck of a job bursting the MSM bubble! Man, these are great times we're livin' in, bros!
