Election Supplies Checklist (UPDATED with Dem Drinks)

That's it.

After you vote. Otherwise, you might get dizzy and accidentally punch the ballot for Nader/Camejo. And if Nader/Camejo wins, they'll bankrupt the whiskey companies by raising the minimum wage to $15/hour and instituting their "consumer, environmental, worker and family farm standards of justice and sustainability" on crops of barley, maize and millet.

UPDATE: How are you self-medicating/blowing off steam?

UPDATE: Speaking of inebriation, Ratherbiased is tracking Ratherisms:

On polling: "This is more complicated than the wiring diagram for some hydroelectric dam dynamo, trying to figure out the absentee ballots, the people who voted in advance and taking in the exit poll data from today."

"This is getting so complicated we may need Billy Crystal to help us analyze this."

Have another drink, Dan; this is your last hurrah.

UPDATE: Tennessee (the home of JD) was called for Bush, btw.

UPDATE: "10-year-old Isle of Jura single malt Scotch whisky."

UPDATE: The internals of the latest FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Exit Poll reveal that Kerry supporters planned to drink the following on election night:

25% Chablis
20% Nep Moi (Vietnamese rice vodka)
15% Cabana Boy Rum Sunset
13% Aquapolitan
10% Raspberry cooler
8% Kiwifruit Daiquiri
5% Mother's milk
2% Evian
2% Other

Fascinating.

UPDATE: They all have Kool-Aid chasers, people. Duh.

Ooooh... Single Barrel. Good stuff. When I've got the clams, I'm a Booker's man. It's Tröegs Otmeal Stout for me tonight though.

Posted by: Nathan at November 2, 2004 06:46 PM

My drug of choice tonight is NyQuil, which, pathetically, I can really get off on.

Nothing like high stress on top of the flu.

Posted by: dulce at November 2, 2004 06:48 PM

Vino here ... and I'm holding off until they first start announcing some sort of ACTUAL results before I break it out.

Posted by: Carin at November 2, 2004 06:56 PM

I just bought a bottle of Maker's Mark...
drank it 4 years ago when Bush won...
drinking it again tonight

Posted by: Matt at November 2, 2004 07:05 PM

AH, Maker's Mark is a good one. I used to bartend, and did an unscientific study on which whiskey tasted the best ... Maker's Mark was my fav.

Posted by: Carin at November 2, 2004 07:19 PM

Almaden Red Sangria is what's working for me tonight.

On glass number two now. Thank goodness election results are leaking in.

Why is Virginia too close to call? I thought we were a red state (sigh).

Posted by: Lornkanaga at November 2, 2004 07:29 PM

Well, the aforementioned stout that I have a large stock of (I hate PA beer laws...).

Actually, I'm feeling pretty good right about now considering the surprisingly visible Bush support I've run into in Philadelphia tonight.

Posted by: Nathan at November 2, 2004 07:44 PM

Black Russians. Kahlua and lots of vodka. Beats coffee any day ;)

Posted by: BorgQueen at November 2, 2004 07:44 PM

My wife hid my whiskey! Arrrrghhhhh!

Posted by: Mark at November 2, 2004 07:44 PM

My tipple tonight is The Macallan, 18 yr. I had it since Christmas and the bottle is still half full (no snarking) but tonight feels like a night for some liquid courage. Cheers.

Posted by: Retread at November 2, 2004 07:45 PM

Tab and Kirschwasser. Like a cherry coke, only in a hot pink can and magical.

Posted by: Adrianne Truett at November 2, 2004 07:47 PM

Cavit Pinot Grigio for me. Cheap tasty wine is the best. On glass number 2. I have to remember to breathe. I'm smoking like a nut too. I'm considering going out to our backyard paradise to sit on the swing and gaze at the stars and try to remain calm. I've committed myself solely to Fox News tonight. They're even driving me crazy.

Posted by: Lisa at November 2, 2004 07:54 PM

A few from Cooperstown Brewing from Milford NY brought back into Canada after paying a ransom at the border.

Posted by: Alan at November 2, 2004 07:56 PM

I'm starting out with my daily scotch, Cutty Sark

If things go well, I've been saving the Johnny Walker Black Label (it might not be single barrel Jack...but what the hell)

If they go really bad, I've got a bottle of Cuervo...Let's hope it doesn't get to that.

Posted by: MMW at November 2, 2004 07:58 PM

Cuervo Gold? 1800?? I once sent a roommate out to buy Cuervo, and she came home with the white ... whatta idiot.

Posted by: Carin at November 2, 2004 08:02 PM

Hmmm. You've taken Kevin Millar's advice to heart I see.

Posted by: sonofnixon at November 2, 2004 08:08 PM

Dan Rather must have a death wish. Or maybe he knows this is his last hurrah so he doesn't care that he sounds like an idiot.

Posted by: Retread at November 2, 2004 08:23 PM

Maker's Mark here too.

Posted by: Ghost of a flea at November 2, 2004 08:23 PM

Hey Retread, good choice. The Macallan's are fraternity brothers of Bush (DKE).

Posted by: PiZero at November 2, 2004 08:38 PM

Ummm..

Why does my broswer say it will be 13 minutes ... seconds until page refresh?

Posted by: Sonar5 at November 2, 2004 08:45 PM

LOL... I knew I needed some strong drink tonight :)

Posted by: Lysander at November 2, 2004 08:47 PM

I started with a Tanqueray 10 martini (well, three actually).

Now I am into the home made, charcoal filtered vodka.

Zero hangover. Good stuff....

Posted by: jmaster at November 2, 2004 08:47 PM

Glen Livet...single malt scotch...aged, 30 years...dirty. Yeah, that would taste good right now. I gotta little Pavlovian response going on here.

Posted by: Joe at November 2, 2004 08:47 PM

Nathan,

Where are you located? (if you don't mind my asking) I'm about 15 minutes from the Troegs brewery. Just toured it a couple months back. Nice people. And the Oatmeal Stout on draught rules. Bottles are an acceptable substitute though.

And MMMMMMMhhhhhhh, Maker's Mark!!!!! My allowance is a fifth a month. I cheat and get a half gallon for my birthday. I am checking into the possibility of getting embalmed with that stuff.......

Posted by: jmaster at November 2, 2004 08:56 PM

Fortunately I forgot to do an alcohol run. So I only had two tequila shots left...but plenty of "Red Speckled Hen" beer to keep me going throughout the night. Glad to know I'm not the only one needing anesthetizing. But the polls are looking good, so when do start calling them 'celebratory drinks'?
Cheers America. Looks like we're going to do the right thing.

Posted by: Mrs. E at November 2, 2004 08:57 PM

I figured I'd look up the Macallan's on the DKE website. And I only found irony:

Ya know, with the amount of sugar that they put in the "bug juice" here--you fill a water bottle, and stick it in a conex for a coupla days--and---gawd--that's nasty stuff---I'd imagine that's what Bill Jones brand of koolaide must have tasted like

The "yugo's" over in the KBR compound are throwin' stuff at the tv screens and cheering for Bush like redskins fans who are at a game with the cowboys---

Too bad THEY can't vote--wouldn't even have to offer them 'crack' to register, either...heh

Whatever the outcome--I think the "mission" of this medium for the next 4 years should be to prosecute commercial "jihad" against CBS (that's Viacom, isn't it??) and the NYT until what happened to Sinclair looks like a 'bad day hiccup' on the DOW---and make it permanent

Watch--Fallujah's coming--it may be quicker than this process--
btw, raised 90 miles from Lynchburg--but sure would like a bottle of Beam, myself--neat, in the heat

Choose, Domesticate or Eradicate--but you jfk "fans" better understand--force is required for either one--if you think he DOESN'T think otherwise, that 'ajax' you bought as el primo crack has gone straight to your brain base...

Re: Dems drinks. What, no Kool-Aid? Shame.

Posted by: Retread at November 2, 2004 09:22 PM

From the land of JD...aka TN...love W here...in 2000 & 2004...do we know how to pick 'em or what...;-)

Posted by: hillbillygal at November 2, 2004 09:23 PM

Retread - see update.

Posted by: Bill from INDC at November 2, 2004 09:31 PM

Now is one of those times where I wish I'd gotten used to the taste of alcohol and could start drinking.

Posted by: Patrick Chester at November 2, 2004 09:49 PM

Patrick

Enjoy your abstinence.

It’s a six of one thing/half dozen of the other situation for sure.

Posted by: jmaster at November 2, 2004 09:53 PM

Fuzzy naval wine coolers and I NEVER drink wine coolers.

Posted by: SAHMmy at November 2, 2004 10:07 PM

Bill - JD is my choice too, just bought a bottle last night in preparation. Never had Single Barrel though.

Posted by: Jeff Brokaw at November 2, 2004 10:07 PM

Scotch. Neat.

Posted by: Boyd at November 2, 2004 10:22 PM

JD here, too.

Posted by: sarah at November 2, 2004 10:32 PM

Glenkinchie 10, neat. Not bad, but not sure if I'd recommend it. JD's a good choice, it's been my bread and butter for the most part.

Posted by: dorkafork at November 3, 2004 12:25 AM

Oh, Retread. Macallan 18. So jealous.
