Courage
Posted by Bill Wonder what getting shot at feels like? Here's a little taste from thousands of miles away. My cap is permanently tipped to those soldiers. And harping on Kerry's post-Vietnam rhetoric, I certainly wouldn't accuse them of false atrocities, approved and directed "at all levels of command," while they're fighting to win a war. Think about it. Think about a modern analogy that extrapolates Abu Ghraib to reflect the efforts of all of those men; an extrapolation that's based on made-up testimony by anti-war protestors that pose as combat veterans. The concept certainly bothers me. (Via Ace) Posted by Bill at October 29, 2004 02:01 PM | TrackBack (2) CommentsOof. And to think - that's a short firefight. Posted by: willow at October 29, 2004 02:10 PM Wow. That is the kind of thing that should be on the news. Seeing something like that really gives those of us who haven't served in the military or been in combat a bit of perspective on what those soldiers must face every day. I imagine I would be about as scared sh!tless as that cameraman seemed. Your point is well taken Bill. Posted by: Mantis at October 29, 2004 02:11 PM yeah.....it really bothers me that that stuff took place, and that a man that is so close to becoming our president led the charge. Posted by: MythicalMino at October 29, 2004 02:12 PM oh....i was talking about Kerry's after action report on the evils of the American military in Vietnam Posted by: MythicalMino at October 29, 2004 02:12 PM Courage seems to be a word that liberals use very infrequently these days. Also, notice this on the campaign trail: Bush spends much of his time talking about defeating the terrorists; Kerry spends most of his time talking about defeating Bush. That's the problem with Kerry and the rest of the liberals: for them, the real enemy is Bush and not the terrorists. Posted by: Another Thought at October 29, 2004 02:59 PM Kerry spends most of his time talking about defeating Bush. Bingo. Posted by: willow at October 29, 2004 03:12 PM Oops. Preview before Post. Posted by: willow at October 29, 2004 03:14 PM I echo Willow's 'Bingo.' Kerry and the Democrats see the WoT as a sidenote to their removal of George W. Bush from power. That, not winning the war, is their primary focus of the moment. Posted by: FH at October 29, 2004 03:14 PM Courage seems to be a word that liberals use very infrequently these days. Balderdash. They use it all the time. For example, if you wear your Kerry button in downtown SF, that's "courage". If you put up a blog post criticizing Bush, this is also "courage". In fact, any kind of "dissent" whatsoever from the Administrations policies is courage. I mean, you're running the very real risk someone might yawn in your face! Courage! Posted by: Angie Schultz at October 29, 2004 03:16 PM That, not winning the war, is their primary focus of the moment. I don't know if you noticed but there is an election in a few days, and I think I see plenty of activity on the right and words from Bush's mouth devoted to defeating Kerry and not fighting the war on terror. I have no doubt someone will respond that defeating Kerry is fighting the WOT, cause he would weaken us...blah blah. That same is being said about Bush. Posted by: Mantis at October 29, 2004 03:43 PM We really should have a democrat dictionary: Posted by: Kathy at October 29, 2004 03:49 PM I think it is hard to deny the courage and fortitude of our soldiers, unless of course you are Kerry, then you like to accuse them of being incompetent, but keeping true to your character, you deny doing it. Posted by: Just Me at October 29, 2004 04:27 PM If John Kerry were in the video, he'd be up the street 2000 yards waiting for the firing to stop, then he'd come back looking to pluck somebody from the water, once it was safe... uh... where's the water?
