Bush Up in New Poll

Posted by Bill

Gallup? Pew Research? Zogby? Well yes, but in addition to those polls ...

7-Eleven did an unscientific poll in 2000, which was uncannily accurate.

The poll gives 7-Eleven customers the choice of a Bush, Kerry or undecided cup when purchasing a fountain soft drink. Poll results are based on the number of cups sold for each candidate. Although unscientific, the poll samples millions and millions of Americans from all walks of life across the nation, including those whose primary phone is a cell phone.

This year the vote is:
Bush: 51.17 %
Kerry: 48.83 %

Heh. Thanks to e-mailer Robert Burke.

A friend, not too long ago, found only Kerry cups to choose from when buying coffee . . . Bush cups had 'sold out'.

Hmm. I'm trying to think of a joke here. Slurpee and Big Gulp both come to mind, but I'm grasping at how to combine them....

finally, a poll I can have faith in. SAAM, be sure to link the joke here. no teasing here, hoarding over there!

Don't forget the Weekly Reader poll of children. About 60% favor Bush.

The Weekly Reader poll has been correct in every presidential election since 1956.

Hey sharp, try this:

The Kerry campaign must be taking a "big gulp" as they read the polls results, concluding that their campaign strategy is "slurpeeing"

I know, pretty weak....but gotta get back to work.

Geeze..sorry for the triple trackback.
Must be all that soda pop amping me out:)

i have first hand knowledge of this poll and the only problem is that 7-11's are not in every state (believe it or not)

Posted by: mari at October 26, 2004 05:00 PM

In key battleground states, 7-11 has Bush
ahead in Florida, even in Michigan and well
behind in Ohio & Pennsylvania. There’s
no data for Minnesota or Iowa.

The Presidential mask poll is another overlooked statistical tool. The Presidential winner has sold more masks in every election since 1980. Currently Bush leads 54 to 46.

Posted by: Matt Moore at October 26, 2004 06:35 PM

If you look at the state breakdown, Bush is ahead in California (51/49) and Maryland (54/46), but behind in Kansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Missouri. I think this means, basically, that the poll is meaningless. I mean, Bush getting almost 55% of the DC vote? More likely this just shows how bad the DC schools are.

Posted by: PJ/Maryland at October 26, 2004 08:06 PM

Of course it's meaningless, I posted it for humor's sake.

Whatever you do, don't say "Oh thank heaven"-- unless you want to hear a bunch of crap about not being reality-based.

Heh, this is awesome. Thanks, Bill. And thanks, Robert.

I'm going to go buy a slurpee.

Taco did a similar poll for the California recall. If you bought a crunchy beef taco it was a vote for Swarzenegger; if you bought a chicken soft taco it was a vote to keep Gray; if you bought a grilled stuffed burrito, it was a a vote for one of the other 134 candidates. Dems claimed it was "an investment scam to benefit Schwarzenegger", but on 2 out of 3 points it was quite close to the actual results, 54% Arnold; 43% for the other candidates and just 3% to keep gray.

I hope this this Taco Bell election poll is as accurate as the California Recall poll was.

Isn't Warren Buffett working with the Kerry campaign? That 7-11 poll must really get right up his nose, then, since he owns the wholesale distributor that provides 90% of 7-11 product nationwide, including the cups.

I love these non-scientific polls, what is weird is that most of them are in line with the real polls that show Bush with a small lead.

My favorite is the Farenheist 9/11 vs. The Passion of Christ Box office numbers poll.

I think you can figure out who the majority of audience members of each film are voting for. And both demographics are highly motivated.

I went by 7-11 to 'vote' this morning...they wewre out of Bush cups, they had boxes of Kerry cups. But then, my district went Republican by 76% in 02.

Posted by: MMW at October 27, 2004 11:48 AM

I also visited a 7-11 with only Kerry cups. I got a larger size to avoid skewing the results.

Help! I've been disenfranchised!

7-Election fraud in Massachusetts (big surprise, I know).

This needs to get some press: Candidate Brand association study. This is insightful and could have an impact. It already dispells some conventional wisdom about Republicans = wealthy, corporate, racist, elite, upper class.

I fail to see how ANYone could support a president that first of all allowed U.S troops to move into a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and slaughter innocent American troops and citizens if Iraq. If you cant see the retaliation over his fathers failed attempt and the greed for oil, you must be ignorant. Who was president when we got attacked in the first place? Keep American safe?? You failed to do so Mr. Bush. During the campaign all you hear about is terrorism and keeping American safe............. What about US? What about jobs?... Healthcare?? Schools?? No mention at all...... It all revolves around IRAQ.... which we had no business going into in the first place..... LOL Osama still has not been captured..... WHERE'S THE MENTION THERE? Realistically speaking.... there is no other choice but Kerry to at LEAST attempt to run for US and not OIL. Shame on You Mr. Bush and Shame on anyone who could possibly support THAT!
