I'll take second place to the Corner:

Washington Post:

2004 Best Blogs - Politics & Elections Readers' Choice Awards

Best Inside the Beltway

Winner
National Review - The Corner
www.nationalreview.com/thecorner/corner.asp

Honorable Mention
INDC Journal
www.indcjournal.com

Barely any SWWNBNOL or Kos in sight, and a lot of Corner wins. Actually, it looks like the right-leaning bloggers cleaned up all around ...

Thank you to all of the readers that voted in the contest and make INDC a regular visit - I sincerely appreciate your support.

Congrats... and damn you, Scrappleface!

Congratulations!!! You deserve it. I voted so I can share in the pride. Go INDC!

Posted by: Katherine Lambert at October 25, 2004 12:31 PM

Sorry Frank. If I ever meet Ott, I'll give him a look of marked disdain.

Posted by: Bill from INDC at October 25, 2004 12:32 PM

Dude,
Congrats. You deserve it!!

Bill,

Congrats all around...you have an excellent, well-run and informative blog.

Congratulations! Though I am a NRO reader, I still think you are better for the category...but I'll abide by the results of the democratic process.

Posted by: loy at October 25, 2004 12:44 PM

Congratulations.

I think the biggest surprise to me, besides the COMPLETE lack of leftie blogs among the winners, is LGF's Honorable Mention in 'Most Original.'

Don't get me wrong; I love LGF, read it more than once per day, and agree with Charles at least 4/5 of the time. But to use the Den Beste taxonomy, he's a linker rather than a thinker. The vast majority of his posts (except for his part in Rathergate) are links to and quotes from articles describing something the Islamofascists did, are trying to do, or got done to them, with not a whole lot of Charles' original content added.

I don't mean that as a criticism of Charles; that would be like saying the Blogfather isn't worthwhile because all he does is link.

LGF was the right choice for Best International Blog, but an HM in Best Original? I don't think so.

Posted by: Chris of Dangerous Logic at October 25, 2004 12:46 PM

Hey, I don't think the results actually mean that much ... just nice fluff.

Posted by: Bill from INDC at October 25, 2004 12:48 PM

You need to throw in a few "indeed"s and "heh"s into your posts. It works for Glenn Reynolds.

Posted by: Sharp as a Marble at October 25, 2004 12:56 PM

Congrats Bill!! Poor Frank J, curious to see the fury and violence he'll unleash now. But I voted for him!

Posted by: Pete at October 25, 2004 12:58 PM

I am glad to see The Corner beat out Kos for best Democrat Party coverage.

Posted by: steve at October 25, 2004 01:00 PM

Congrats!

I'm always annoyed when people speak breathlessly about blogs, and then point to blogs like Sullivan, Jarvis, or the Corner. If there's anything exciting about blogs, it's that amateur writers/journalists (which I assume you are, Bill) are competing, and sometimes beating, the professionals.

But Sullivan et al are the professionals. What's the big deal about those guys having blogs? I guess to them the lack of editorial control might be something, but that's not even true at the Corner and other professionally-sponsored sites.

Posted by: Angie Schultz at October 25, 2004 01:02 PM

Funny, thought Sullivan would've been honorable mention in the best Democratic Party coverage.... heh.

Posted by: OneDrummer at October 25, 2004 01:03 PM

Congrats, you definitly earned it :)

Posted by: Elric at October 25, 2004 01:03 PM

It must have been close. FWIW, I would have put INDC first, and The Corner 2nd.

I demand a recount!! Just kidding, but isn't the Post a member of the MSM?

Cheers!

Congrats, you deserve it! Keep the bloggy goodness coming... look both ways before crossing in front of any moonbat parades and don't get blown up or anything (you're always welcome up here in Minnesota during high-risk times like the present--you could just hitch a ride with our esteemed Sen. Dayton if he hasn't already left).

Congrats, Bill. Major accomplishment in such a short time. Validation for your relatively even-keeled site.

Posted by: Boyd at October 25, 2004 06:50 PM

I think u got shafted. The Corner is fine, but it's not something a lone blogger built from sweat & creativity, it's a major media player having a vanity blog, with instant media exposure. Not the same thing. I seriously don't see why it was even included.

Posted by: jeff at October 25, 2004 07:54 PM

Congrats. Well-deserved.

Congratulations Bill, always informative with a tilt I can relate to. Thanks to you and the rest of the hard working blogs that put it out.

KUDOS BILL!!!!!
Good thing too, otherwise I'd have to take you off my favorites list. ;)

Posted by: Kathy at October 25, 2004 10:13 PM

Hey, congrats...but didn't need a stinking contest to tell us what we've known for quite a while...you're the 'tops'!

Posted by: jmflynny at October 25, 2004 10:15 PM

The minute you walked in the joint,
I could see you were a man of distinction.

Congratulations. I'm surprised. The WaPl poll demonstrates that conservatives own the blogoshpere. You, Bill, among them.

Kudos.

Also, more moonbats, please!
