Can you hear them?

Can you smell them?

Can you sense them?

They're coming.

Well, if things get really, really bad, just remember which side owns the guns....

Tease...

The only consolation is knowing the wait will be worth it.

(sniff sniff) smells like hippie....

Benny Hill's gang?

And where's the bald guy?

MOONBATS!

Posted by: Patrick Lasswell at October 22, 2004 02:49 AM

Is that? Could it be? No, it couldn't??! Jonathan Winters from Mork & Mindy?

Posted by: C. at October 22, 2004 07:12 AM

Jeez, you guys are writing my jokes for me ...

Posted by: Bill from INDC at October 22, 2004 07:15 AM

Hmmm.. Pictures like that are screaming for Photoshop!

Posted by: Sharp as a Marble at October 22, 2004 07:27 AM

At the Bush rally in Hershey, PA yesterday there were only about a dozen young protesters with homemade signs. But there were 25 to 30,000 Bush supporters.

I was actually disappointed.

Since when did Brian Dennehy go Moonbat?

Posted by: John Tant at October 22, 2004 09:48 AM

It's actually Karl Rove's evil twin, Skippy!

Posted by: FormerHostage at October 22, 2004 10:09 AM

It's so sad to see Jonathan Winters join the moonbats.

"Well, if things get really, really bad, just remember which side owns the guns..."

jmaster: It's dangerous to assume such things -- I'm on the left and well-armed.

The freak in the picture doesn't represent my world - that's for sure!

Posted by: Anonymous Scientist at October 22, 2004 10:28 AM

Anon Sci - glad to know you support the 2nd Amendment, at any rate! ;)

Posted by: willow at October 22, 2004 11:03 AM

Looks like the sign on the left says "Today Iraq, Tomorrow the World."

How much hash has he been smoking?

Anonymous Scientist:

It doesn't count as an arsenal if you don't take them out of the display case. :)

"Today Iraq, Tomorrow the World"

Okay, who left the sooper-secret world conquest plans out again?

Posted by: Mikey at October 22, 2004 12:03 PM

I'm going to be in DC on business next week...when are these moonbats decending? Oh please, oh please be the 27th or 28th....I'd love to see a real live moonbat convention...that would be great!

Posted by: soccerdad at October 22, 2004 12:49 PM

AnonScientist:

That’s good to hear. After a couple thousand or so, I imagine it can get kinda boring shooting unarmed peacenik/moonbat/socialist types. I don’t know, maybe not.

But just in case, its good to know that their might be one or two shooting back every now and then to help keep the ole adrenaline pumping.

Posted by: jmaster at October 22, 2004 01:04 PM

You've been promising this thing for ages. You are nothing but a blog tease.

Posted by: Angie Schultz at October 22, 2004 01:09 PM

SoccerDad, I think it's the 25th, hence the post title. Or, it could have already happened and the 25th is when Bill is finally(!) going to post. That said, I should say I hope it's already happened, otherwise it could be December before we see any MOOONNNBATs...

(Atually I shouldn't talk. On account of my own posting habits aren't what you'd call dependable, in spite of a few readers' best, yet inexplicable, efforts to get me to post more often.)

Textbook & jmaster: For the record I grew up in a military / state trooper family. My father (retired Major) was a Marksman for the military, so I spent every summer staying on military bases and pulling targets. He was also a Unit Commander in the PA State Police. My brother has followed in my father's footsteps to the tee (military and Statie). He was deployed at the beginning of the war (he's back), and I'm grateful that nothing happened to him.

I was trained early in life on how to handle weapons. I inherited 1/2 of my father's collection, which means I own about 25 rifles/pistols -- many of them are competition weapons. What does this all mean? I'm well trained, I can load my own ammo, and I have more weapons than you -- why don't you pay me a visit? I may be a scientist on the left, but you should never assume anything about anybody.

Posted by: Anonymous Scientist at October 22, 2004 04:07 PM

Anonymous Scientist,

The moonbat left is suffering such a leadership vacuum that they are willing to accept John Kerry as their standard bearer. You may be armed, but you are without leadership or significant support.

The most strinking shortage any revolutionary movement in the US faces is credible leadership. There is nobody in the moonbat lineup who is of sufficient quality to shine Robert E. Lee's boots, let alone fill them. In the absence of strong leadership, any revolution will melt before it forms.

Being strident, armed, and leftist means that you are likely to get pushed into a leadership position. Then you will be targeted for prosecution upon defeat, or purged by the politicos upon victory.

Posted by: Patrick Lasswell at October 22, 2004 04:17 PM

"moonbat left is suffering such a leadership vacuum"

Patrick: My understanding is that "moonbats" are those who are far left. On the far right you have the "wing nuts" -- is this right Bill? Well, Patrick, I take offense to being lumped with the far left as I'm sure many of my thoughtful colleagues do (many of them are in this forum). So, to avoid insulting me and everyone else who is slightly left of center, why don't you just refer to the guy wearing the goofy hat in the pic as a moonbat, and don't refer to the whole left as moonbats. I'm really getting tired of it.

Feeling grouchy today.

Posted by: Anonymous Scientist at October 22, 2004 04:24 PM

It's a fine line.

Anonymous Scientist,

I feel that any uprising will be at the behest of the moonbat left, regardless of the sanity of those who might get pulled into it. The discussion was not about hunting down the law abiding members of society that disagreed with the current administration. The discussion was about putting down the moonbats who choose to rise up against the lawfully elected government of the United States. If you choose to take up arms against the US with the moonbats, then any distinction between your sanity and theirs will be indistinguishable over the sights of a rifle.

For referance, I am absolutely as willing to use lethal force against wingnuts who are seeking to overthrow the lawfully elected government of the US as I am to gun down revolting moonbats.

I'm sorry that you are grouchy today.

Posted by: Patrick Lasswell at October 22, 2004 04:37 PM

Bill: This goes both ways. I don't refer to you as a "wing nut" or a "right wing nut job" because I have respect for you and everybody else here. I only ask for the same level of respect, but don't do it it if you don't feel it. You post pictures of complete idiots in stupid hats, and then people like Patrick seem to think this is the norm for the left. It's not! Man I'm grouchy today!

Posted by: Anonymous Scientist at October 22, 2004 04:38 PM

I only ask for the same level of respect, but don't do it it if you don't feel it.

The first sign of being a moonbat is losing your sense of humor.

If you feel yourself start to mutate, go roll around naked in some cash.

And I actually like that guy's hat - I have one just like it.

Posted by: Bill from INDC at October 22, 2004 04:46 PM

Sorry Bill. I just realized my rage is from being at the DMV for 3 hours this morning, not having any coffee, and not seeing my wife for a week. I'm trying to breath and get through this day. That hat sucks.

Posted by: Anonymous Scientist at October 22, 2004 04:50 PM

Anonymous Scientist,

I do not think that moonbats are the norm for the left. I have seen a substantial capacity for and unwillingness to control these people. The lack of accountability these people face is deeply problematic.

For referance, in 1995 when the abortion clinic in the same building as the Navy Federal Credit Union where I did my banking got shot up, I was one of many servicemen and vets who volunteered to escort clinic personnel. Military personnel and veterans, who are predominently conservative, have very little willingness to to support the wingnuts who engage in armed violence for political ends.

I really wish I saw the same restraint on the left.

Posted by: Patrick Lasswell at October 22, 2004 05:11 PM

Please, PLEASE! Soon! I want to see these people soon!

I can definately smell them.

I also like the hat.

**snif snif**
Smells like patchouli, sort of.

Scientist:

For the record, my postings on this topic have been 100% humor. No offense intended. Well, that might be a lie. But the first part wasn’t. And if your father was a PA Trooper, then there’s a chance he could have already whooped my ass. I’ve had a few run ins with PA’s finest in my younger days.

Also for the record, many of my friends consider me to be pretty far left of center. I am a card carrying (I), in a land of (R)’s . I would be a libertarian if I thought that would accomplish anything. There are actually quite a few wingnuts who I truly fear. But I find most moonbats to be generally amusing, and much more fun to play with. But I think they have entirely too much clout in today’s (D) party.

I usually vote for whoever I think is the more moderate of the two major party candidates, and/or for whoever I think will do the least damage to me and my country. I was undecided until a few weeks ago. But I find GWB to be less far to the right than JFK is to the left, so I would most likely have swung W’s way this year.

But as has been said by many others, for me, 9-11 and the GWOT pretty much trump the other issues. A few things could happen in the next few days that could cause me to flip flop, but if I had to pull the lever today, it would be the (R) lever.

Posted by: jmaster at October 22, 2004 05:44 PM

With that goofy hat, he looks like somebody from "F Troop."

Posted by: BarCodeKing at October 22, 2004 06:09 PM

Something serious just donned on me. This guy looks like Jonathan Winters, alright. But not from the Mork and Mindy days. No siree.

He looks like the character Winters played in “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World”. Right down to the goofy hat. How appropriate!

But wait!

There’s more!

That entire movie consisted of a bunch of half-crazed, left coasters....

racing around the countryside....

searching for....

a BIG SECRET!…….

which is buried………...

beneath………..

a big…….….….

W !!!!!!!!

MY GOD! ITS A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD, MOONBAT INVASION!!!!

I need a drink.
