Coming Attractions

Moonbats on deck. UPDATE: FYI, this post isn't just intended as commentary on the draft non-issue, it means that a full protest post is coming soon ... Posted by Bill at October 17, 2004 08:24 PM | TrackBack (4) CommentsShouldn't that sign read "No clue, no way, no how?" Posted by: Dan at October 17, 2004 08:40 PM Atleast the protesters and troops agree on one thing: They are both against the draft. Posted by: Markus Barca at October 17, 2004 08:47 PM But she looks so sad... She must be right if she is so emotional about it. Isn't that the way we're supposed to think? Not realizing that, of course, the only group in America who seems to want a draft are anti-war democrats. I was a member of an all volunteer Army in the 80's. It really amazes me to think that there are people who believe that anyone in the military from the top on down could advocate a draft under any circumstance. Almost twenty years ago military technology was sophisticated enough to require people using it had brains. I particularly remember taking my ASVAB test with about 5 other people. Their scores were low enough that none of them were offered a job. At anything. Posted by: Thad O at October 17, 2004 08:54 PM And there's the compassionate head-tilt too. Cute though. Posted by: Ghost of a flea at October 17, 2004 09:08 PM "But she looks so sad..." She has a Sox cap on... Posted by: Dave at October 17, 2004 09:18 PM To quote Homer Simpson: "Doh!" I totally failed to notice that this young moonbat was obviously a proponent of lost causes... Posted by: Thad O at October 17, 2004 09:26 PM This draft business has to be the best evidence of Liberal Media Bias, even above the rathergate mess. They KNOW Bush does not have plans to start a draft, they KNOW who it is that put a bill forward to reinstate the draft, they KNOW why it was done. Why Kerry has been vilified for the liar he is on the campaign trail is the worst possible loss of a moral compass I have ever seen. Hugh McBryde Posted by: Prakk at October 17, 2004 09:41 PM I meant to say, HASN'T been. That's what I get for not using preview. Posted by: Prakk at October 17, 2004 09:43 PM And the Dems keep complaining that Bush is a divider, not a uniter. If there is any issue on which the Dems have concurred with the Republicans, it's the utter impossibility of a draft ever occurring. (402-2, anyone?) Look at it this way... Bush has been saying it for years, and now the Dems have finally realized the futility of their efforts, and crawled aboard the ol' bandwagon. Hell, even the ultra-partisan Democratic sponsor of this latest attempt at the draft, Charles Rangel (D-NY), ended up voting against his own legislation. Posted by: Drumwaster at October 17, 2004 09:52 PM ok - what's a moonbat? I mean, I know what one is in the blogosphere; but where did the reference come from, somebody just make it up? Posted by: JEGjr at October 17, 2004 10:00 PM Does anyone else become tired and disgusted at politicians wasting our time and money on "protest" bills and/or votes? Posted by: cky at October 17, 2004 10:16 PM Just a little "proophonics" for the masses. What is proophonics? Proophonics: "a statement that can stand on it's on...the truth...cannot be subject to spin nor argument. It is what it is. Lesson #1: Dan Rather is to the truth as a dog is to a fire hydrant! Excellent site...excellent writing... and excellent people corresponding here. Keep on keeping on! Posted by: politico at October 17, 2004 10:48 PM It appears that at least 3 of the 4 soldiers on the poster are dark skinned. This plays into to often repeated liberal lie that a disproportionate number of Blacks fought and died in Vietnam. In reality, Black casualties in Vietnam were slightly less than their percentage of the American population. Posted by: perfectsense at October 17, 2004 11:10 PM I can't wait. I hope there'll be lots of ANSWER goons. It'd make sense, since it took all of 60 seconds to find the link between that URL and ANSWER (and Ramsey Clark's International Action Center, which appears to be the grandfather, as it were, of the anti-draft group). Posted by: Nathan Hamm at October 17, 2004 11:12 PM Point one: Those who do not study history are condemned to repeat it. A farmer was riding the wagon back home from town with his wife. She said “John when we were young and made this trip, we always snuggled up on the ride home. It was so romantic. I don’t understand what happened. Why are we so far apart these days? John’s response? For those in Rio Linda: George Bush hasn’t moved. Where the hell are you today? Posted by: Allan Yackey at October 17, 2004 11:14 PM Thad O: Thank you for your service. The good work we have managed in the middle east today is a direct result of the good work of you and your colleagues in the '80s. And I agree with you, the work is getting more and more specialized. My school was two years long. There's no way I could have completed such a grueling, demanding program if I didn't WANT to be there. Thanks again. Posted by: Kieth at October 17, 2004 11:32 PM Bottom line: fuck'em. Posted by: MIKEY at October 17, 2004 11:40 PM Allan, REM was the acronym for Rapid American Withdrawal? Doesn't quite fit. Shouldn't it be RAW? Posted by: Dale at October 18, 2004 12:06 AM OK, so she's a moonbat. But the REAL question is: Would you do her? Posted by: Question Man at October 18, 2004 01:36 AM She looks 12. Posted by: Markus Barca at October 18, 2004 03:01 AM She's cute, but young. Luckily, the lack of higher mental functioning will keep her skin wrinkle-free for years to come. Posted by: Josh Martin at October 18, 2004 07:19 AM Hmm...My Photoshop finger is itching. Too bad I'm at work. Posted by: Sharp as a Marble at October 18, 2004 07:49 AM I am sick of Kerry using the draft to scare people, especially given the fact that he well understands that congress determines when a draft returns not the president. Also, somebody needs to tell me why Kerry believe Bush has to have a draft, while his own plan won't require one, when it adds an additional 40k troops? Posted by: Just Me at October 18, 2004 09:27 AM Why oh why isn't she wearing a Yankees hat instead? Posted by: Cam at October 18, 2004 09:36 AM It should be pointed out that there is an easy way to avoid any possibility of draft. Anyone that really believes this is going to happen, is too damn stupid to be in the military. Put it this way. Do you really think the military is going to entrust the operation and security of a multimillion dollar weapons system to anyone too ignorant to study an important subject? The draft was enacted to put a large number of boots on the ground in a short period of time. In short, we needed bomb catchers and bullet blockers. We now have the "Peace at ANY Price" crowd to fulfill those important functions. So keep chanting this important mantra to yourself... I'll bet you feel better already. Posted by: CarolinaPete at October 18, 2004 09:39 AM I was just in Dallas TX and many locals wore Red Sox caps. Is Boston "America's Team?" Or is this a expression of political preference? Posted by: bosun3rd at October 18, 2004 10:27 AM Not really on topic, but a plea to all non-moonbats - there's a site called http://p2p-politics.org/ that has Kerry ads on it, but no Bush ads. They're willing to take Bush ads, but no one has submitted any yet. If you have something that you have the right to submit, please do so! Posted by: Gawaine at October 18, 2004 10:42 AM When ever I see some dumbass clueless phony liberal wearing a Red Sox visor I'm so proud to be from Boston. Posted by: jacktanner at October 18, 2004 11:17 AM The Samizdat dictionary defines the term moonbat: (coined by Perry de Havilland) Usage:"Definition of a 'barking moonbat': someone who sacrifices sanity for the sake of consistency" http://www.samizdata.net/blog/glossary_archives/001981.html Posted by: Ghost of a flea at October 18, 2004 12:05 PM Whooo-hoooo!
