The Best Moment of the Night (UPDATED)

Posted by Bill

"Senator Gone?"

"If they couldn't stand up to the pressures that Howard Dean represented, how can we expect them to standup to Al Qaeda?"

Nope.

What a lopsided match-up!

UPDATE: Posts like this make me wonder if my sense of humor expects too much of people, or whether my readers bother to click on the links. The Dick Cheney quotes were just a joke set-up to get you to click on the link to the real debate - Bill Kristol vs. Susan Estrich. You guys got that right? Right? Bueller?

I wished Cheney had commented "that as a lawyer he should know that all states recongize all other states marriages"

I thought Cheney's best zinger was when he said this was the first time he had met Edwards, but that's been debunked fifteen different ways by now.

No way I'm gonna provide a valid e-mail address so it can be spammed, I am under no illusions as to the type of people we are up against in this election, yourself excluded of course.

As to the post I thought it was a clever rejoinder but not everyone has the same or indeed any sense of humour I suppose.

There is a huge difference in being in the same room with someone and meeting them.

Hmmm.... Just a thought.

postit - You've been a busy troll at other sites as well, I see.

Oh, and that's why your buddies feel the need to vandalized, destroy, thrash republican party headquarters in TN, FLA, WV, WASH, WI.... yeah. right. Must be kinda nostalgic going back to your WTO days... put the bandana up over your face and be anonymous... while partying hard! Woohoo!

"There is a huge difference in being in the same room with someone and meeting them.

Not sure what that accomplishes, since Cheney's point during the debate clearly was that when he's in the Senate, Edwards is nowhere to be seen. I don't think his point was that Edwards wasn't sociable enough or had declined Cheney's invitations to engage in a meaningful friendship or something.

But as it is, there are some pretty good reasons why Cheney doesn't recall meeting Edwards on his Tuesday visits to the Senate: he goes there for the weekly meetings of the Republican Caucus. No points for guessing why he doesn't run into Edwards on those occasions.

All the times Cheney showed up to cast a tie-breaking vote, Edwards was present and voting as well, and on the whole Edwards was present for over 90% off all votes - used to be close to 100%, but it's gone down since he started campaigning.

Posted by: clancy at October 6, 2004 08:23 PM

Perhaps if Edwards was such a diligent legislator Cheney would have run into him in the course of his routine weekly visits more than just once? Kerry's missed votes and committee meetings speak for themselves.

Also, little handout seekers, notice how Senator Mayberry didn't respond to Cheney's observation? Why didn't he? He certainly used some of his time to respond to issues not relevant to the question at hand. He could have just said "Mr. Vice President, you are wrong/mistaken".

He looked like he was caught redhanded and he was.

What a lightweight chump.

I said Kerry when I was referring to Edwards and for that I apologize. It is hard distinguishing between the 20+ year far left senator with the blowdried hair and the lack of accomplishments and the first term senator on his ticket.

Posted by: Violent Kitten at October 6, 2004 08:49 PM

Dick Morris was just on Hannity and noted how during his time on the Clinton team, that Clinton's administration never considered Kerry to be a major player; he was always regarded as a lightweight.

...and in a sense Another Thought, that's what our choices are between in November; Bush or Bush Light.

Pssh, who really emails a commenter on a thread. Haven't seen it happen yet. If it makes you feel better, get a yahoo or hotmail account for this sort of stuff. That was when us "bigotracistsexisthomophobehatemongerfascistimperalisticfundamentalists" ...ignore you, you'll know by the empty mailbox. Just a thought.

Violent Kitten,

Didn't respond... what do you call this?

"That was a complete distortion of my record. I know that won't come as a shock."

Re. "little handout seekers"... you are aware that on the whole the red states get more from the federal coffers than they put in, and vice versa for the blue states, right?

Another Thought,

try googling "Kerry BCCI" sometime.

That clip was brutal, Bill. I've never seen Kristol so ticked off. It illustrates better than anything I've seen yet that you simply cannot have a reasonable discourse about politics or even current events with some people; in Estrich's worldview, if you have a differing opinion, you're lying. Heck, you can't even be MISTAKEN about something: you're a liar instead.

God, what a shrill harpy.
