Bring the Funny
Posted by Bill UPDATE: Uh, I just got my memo:
Posted by Bill at September 27, 2004 03:40 PM | TrackBack (12) CommentsYou can laugh now, but Joe Trippi totally outed all of you on Hardball on Friday: TRIPPI: The Bush campaign, the difference [that] it gives them a bigger edge, is they understand how to get a story out of the Internet, off the blogs, over the Drudge report, and then on to the mainstream media. They‘re using the Internet as a message delivery system in a lot better way than the Kerry campaign is. MATTHEWS: . . . Is that why they seem to be so good at getting out, well, certainly the attack on Dan Rather was an example of their ability to get a message out. TRIPPI: Yes. I think the conservatives really built this sort of delivery system over 20, 30 years . . . The CBS example is a good example of that. It's funny when you actually think of what the "message" was: that the documents were forged. Somehow both Matthews both missed that the Democratic "message" was that the documents were authentic, and that they attempted to get it out through CBS. Posted by: The Raving Atheist at September 27, 2004 04:38 PM Me thinks they are circling the wagons but it will be a massacre. From their own, not from anybody else.Donner Party comes to mind. We were just the snow. Posted by: Hitman at September 27, 2004 04:53 PM Liberals never lay the blame where it should lie: in the case of Rathergate, with CBS and the forger of those docs. But that's OK...as long as they keep denying reality, they will never fix what is wrong with themselves, and so will just condemn themselves to keep making the same mistakes and keep losing. Posted by: Another Thought at September 27, 2004 04:53 PM If Karl Rove is behind the new rumblings from Mt St Helens, then could we get him to do all of us in Washington State a favor? Can he move it to underneath the state capital in Olympia and wait until Sen Patty "bin" Murray is visiting before pushing the button? Posted by: Pete at September 27, 2004 05:17 PM >>> TRIPPI: Yes. I think the conservatives really built this sort of delivery system over 20, 30 years . . . Wait a minute, I thought Al Gore invented the internet. Let's give credit where credit is due. Posted by: edleary at September 27, 2004 06:57 PM Stop, Bill STOP! I'm laughing so hard at your letter from Karl that my sides are aching! Posted by: Boyd at September 27, 2004 07:00 PM Bill: That's an obvious forgery. Karl signed Michele's with a heart. This is going to feed the Llama's story about the sammiches, ya know. Posted by: Brett at September 27, 2004 07:18 PM Don't be ridiculous, Bill. Everyone knows that if Karl Rove wanted you dead he would just use his evil mind control powers to make you commit suicide and leave a note supposedly typed on a 1972 typewriter but bearing a suspicious resemblance to 2004 MS Word. Posted by: TallDave at September 27, 2004 08:04 PM I'm with TallDave, that isn't a _real_ Rove death threat. He'd do something clear and unambiguous, in typical conservative code. Something nasty like "Social security needs reform" or "Free market health care is cheaper". Both clearly insinuations that you're going to need help after Rove's bully boyz mobilize a huge conspiracy to dethrone you. If. Posted by: Al at September 27, 2004 08:45 PM - If I'm not mistaken until Darpa/Aarpa released the Net as it was then composed to the public secter in 93/94 there was no "blogs" as such, other than BBS's. Moreover blogs did not really gain that much in popularity until 4 or 5 years ago, and even then its growth rate has been 10 times as fast in the past 2 years. so where did he get the 20 to 30 years for all this "preperation"... At anyrate if he thinks we do a better job then I guess we should just accept the kudo's with appropriate humbleness ans gratification....Never ceases to amaze me how many goofy ideas people have about the history of the internet..... Posted by: Hunter at September 27, 2004 08:50 PM "so where did he get the 20 to 30 years for all this "preperation"... Hey, it was a long-term project! First we had to conceptualize a new medium. Then we had to invent, design, and implement the internet. The we had to come up with the idea of the web, and implement that. And finally we got around to actually creating weblogs. I'm exhausted, personally. Rove, you're a slavedriver! Gimme that whip! *crack* Try incentives. Oh? Not getting blown up by terrorists is our incentive? Granted. I'll get back to work now. Posted by: Dan S at September 27, 2004 10:06 PM That is one of the funniest things I've ever read! Posted by: mshyde at September 27, 2004 11:10 PM That's an obvious forgery. Maybe. But until you can prove 100% that this document is a forgery, we will continue to assume that, based upon the preponderance of the evident, Karl Rove did indeed write this. Even if it IS proved as forgeries, that doesn't mean anything. The meaning of the memo is still true. Fake, but accurate. Posted by: Xoxotl at September 27, 2004 11:22 PM COMMENT DELETED. FAR RIGHT WING NUT-JOBS THAT USE RHETORIC LIKE "RAPIST" IN REFERENCE TO "EVIL LIBERALS," PLEASE GO AWAY; I DON'T WANT YOU AT INDC JOURNAL. -- Bill Posted by: Phoenix at September 28, 2004 09:15 AM no wonder few people listen to Matthews et al. they don't appear to be listening to themselves. what could Trippi have meant about building "this sort of delivery system over 20, 30 years"? and I'm jealous that Karl writes you and jokes with you. "I'll have you killed." next thing you know, he's going to invite you to the White House. through the back door, of course. Posted by: winemaker at September 28, 2004 11:35 AM Karl who? Never heard of the guy...and if I had heard of the guy, I (AHEM!!!) wouldn’t be at liberty to talk about him. Posted by: Timmer at September 28, 2004 11:49 AM Hey, where's my note? Posted by: Partisan Political Operative at September 29, 2004 04:09 AM A pleasure to look at, go on with this!
