Posted by: Another Thought at September 18, 2004 10:38 PM Of course, one not only has to believe that such a magic typewriter existed at the time, but also that this unique device somehow was in a National Guard office in Texas, and somehow was only used for 6 personal memos by someone who didn't type, but was never used by any other person, including the secretaries and pool typists, of this National Guard unit for any other document. For all other documents they defaulted to using their standard typewriter. No mention that Barnes is a hard-core partisan, signed an affidavit saying the above is untrue, and is contradicted on this matter by all other witnesses to what he alleges, including his own daughter. "Speculation centers on Bill Burkett, a retired Texas National Guard officer, who earlier this year said that he had overheard a conversation in the spring of 1997 about needing to "sanitize" Bush's Guard records. Bush was running for a second term as governor and anticipating a run for the presidency. Burkett said he later saw dozens of pages from Bush's file dumped in the trash." Again, no mention that this is another hard-core Dem partisan, this one with a personal vendetta againt Bush, who again is contradicted by every other witness. This is beyond poor reporting. This is a magazine beahving as a de facto 527 group.

It starts as a "below the fold" page 1 story and then goes to a 2 FULL page spread later in the first section. For those who no longer read the WaPo or other MSM, section 1 is 90 percent ads. This article is 2 FULL Pages, only part of 1 of which is in the e-version. The rest are pictures of the key players on the text page and another FULL page that does a side-by-side document comparison that points to all of the problems between Real 70's Killian memos and these. The sort of Jury exhibit that I'm sure Beldar has built and used many a time. I think the article is a masterpiece. Pulitzer grade. also for your read, this excellent MSM review savaging Dan:
