BOO-YA!
Posted by Bill Howie Kurtz tells Dan Rather again: "You Just Got Served!" Document Experts Say They Warned CBS of Doubts By Howard Kurtz A document expert retained by CBS News for the disputed "60 Minutes" story on President Bush's National Guard record said yesterday that she had warned the program that the memos involved "had problems" and that she had questioned "whether they were produced on a computer." Asked whether CBS had taken her concerns seriously, Linda James, a forensic document examiner in Texas, told The Washington Post: "Evidently not." Devastating. Posted by: Bill from INDC at September 14, 2004 11:30 PM Bend over Dan....reality enema.... inserted right in the CBS eye. Just let reality ooze out...you'll be OK. Posted by: A Ziggen at September 14, 2004 11:57 PM I hate to feed the trolls, but WaveThatFlag is apparently not an attorney (or competently literate) or he would have noticed that little clause in that bluelemur document he linked that states: "unless sooner relieved by competent military authority" Just to make sure he understands--that is what happened when Bush was discharged (honorably) before the five years had run, he was "sooner relieved by competent military authority." You guys do better with the forged documents. Posted by: twalsh at September 15, 2004 12:09 AM From abcnews.go.com/sections/WNT/Investigation/bush_guard_documents_040914.html "Will says she sent the CBS producer an e-mail message about her concerns and strongly urged the network the night before the broadcast not to use the documents." From http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A21675-2004Sep14.html "As for Will's account, West said: "I'm not aware of any substantive objection she raised. Emily Will did not urge us to hold the story." So we've got a he-said she-said here, assuming that we have consistent reporting across news stories. But, fortunately, there's an easy way to figure out the truth: a copy of Emily Will's e-mail. (Such an e-mail might be owned by CBS, if they hired her, since it may be part of work product, but if she feels CBS is misrepresenting her and damaging her career, she has a very good reason to go public with it.)

"CBS's West said Will wrote the network three days before the broadcast, not the day before. 'The only e-mail we received raised some preliminary points about the handwriting, which [CBS's] other experts addressed and ruled out.' "

Just this article all the way back on page 14: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/09/15/as_questions_about_his_service_persist_bush_addresses_guard/ Aside from the somewhat defensive tone about its own reporting, note that there's *no mention at all* of the damning reports from the Washington Post and ABC News. Can you guess who's the only expert quoted willing to say it's a fake? Why, it's Laura Bush! Simply amazing...
