What the ...

Via Allah, Jim at the Kerry Spot notes:

Dan Rather and John Roberts just ignored everything that has been revealed about the memos in the past few days, and these two truth-whacking goons had the guts (and that's not the word I want to use) to claim, "Laura Bush became the first White House insider to doubt the authenticity of the documents. But she offered no evidence to back up her claim."

The world has gone mad.

It really is time to begin a boycott of the 60 Minutes advertisers until they force CBS to cull the herd at 60 Minutes.

BOYCOTT!!!!

If this is CBS's attitude, then I must, in the spirit of Jonah Goldberg, quote the great American philosopher, one Bugs Bunny --

"You realize, of course, that this means war...."

Jim: I also think we need to boycott CBS entirely...

I think only when they are really shaken to the core, via their pocketbook, will they listen...

It was the head of CBS, Les Moonves, who finally realized the travesty of the Reagan movie, and it will probably have to be him in order to move this along.

I don't think CBS cares that much about ratings for their news shows...they've been dropping steadily for the last two decades...but they do care about their highly rated primetime shows...and of course, they care about what their sponsors think...

CBS has really gone bonkers.

If they had just run with the bogus docs and then admitted their mistake, it would have been a huge embarrassment, but they've weathered those storms before.

But their latest defiance betrays all reason; you almost have to feel that they are really protecting someone big...and it ain't the Bush campaign.

The crack about what Laura Bush said was right after Terry M.'s "LIE LIE LIE" bit. I missed any comment about what he said.

- Alice would feel right at home sliding down the CBS rabbit hole...

- FOX continues to gnaw on the bone...This isn't going away...As Sen. Fred Thompson said today..."Its like the people at CBS, DNC, and the Kerry campaign are engaging in a circular firing squad"...

- Personally as bad, as its been up till now, I think Rathers comment mocking the first Lady is going to rebound majorly and nuke the whole CBS enclave into wookie dust...

Hunters got it right, of all the people in the administration to take a shot at, Laura Bush was a poor choice... she has the highest favorability of anyone, even Powell I believe.

I don't know why exactly, but that bit about Laura Bush just put me over the edge. And I'm willing to bet that it had the same effect on a lot of people.
See Hugh Hewitt's blog for information about calling for a congressional hearing. I've already faxed/emailed every damn person at CBS and Viacom...what else to do? I just hope that just one cog of this Democratic Wheel of Putrefaction continues being stupid and gets busted, bringing the whole sorry lot of them down.

Attacking Laura Bush was seriously seriously dumb. It doesn't bother me but it will really piss some people off given the prevailing opinion is inline with her and she is pretty universally liked.

This whole thing is schizophrenic the stonewalling makes even a fairly balanced person like me suspect a conspiracy. But there are too many indications that they really believe its real. I mean why even post it if they thought it was fake or even fishy?

I can't honestly say its stipudity. I can't honestly say its a conspiracy.

I have to conclude its insanity.

"I mean why even post it if they thought it was fake or even fishy?"

They think WE'RE too stupid to realize it was bad.

And, remember, the CBS story was timed to match up with Kerry's idiotic "Fortunate Son" campaign theme. This was so obviously coordinated it makes D-Day look like a coincidence.

Posted by: Robert Crawford at September 14, 2004 09:52 PM

I can remember when John Roberts was a vee-jay on a local music channel, the Canadian version of MTV. Every now and then they show some old clip of him interviewing some rock band in the 1980s, looking awkwardly hip and asking the usual obvious questions. I'm beginning to think those were his finest moments. He hooked his careerist wagon to a rather demented star.

"This was so obviously coordinated it makes D-Day look like a coincidence."

Robert Crawford - that is absolutely the best line I have read since this whole story got started last Thursday. Pure genius.
