Stress

Posted by Bill

... is what I feel, working this story. It's notably annoying dealing with the volume of e-mails from people telling me that I'm a "partisan hack" that hasn't "done enough original research," instead opting to "believe what I want to hear," from a nationally-renowned forensics expert.

Heh. But not really "heh," because that really gets to me after spending so much time trying to be honest and track down truly valid testimony.

So here's a little stress break; some Dan Rather humor blogging, courtesy of the inimitable Jeff Goldstein:

The protein wisdom interview: Dan Rather's Ego

I've heard that Jeff usually does enough "original research," though I'm pretty sure that it just involves ingesting hallucinogens.

Bill, if it helps lower your load, you can ignore my last emails. I goofed on my analysis.

Cheer up, it could be worse. You could be Dan Rather.

Check this out on another supposed verifier of the documents:

HODGES SAID HE WAS MISLED BY CBS: Retired Maj. General Hodges, Killian's supervisor at the Grd, tells ABC News that he feels CBS misled him about the documents they uncovered. According to Hodges, CBS told him the documents were "handwritten" and after CBS read him excerpts he said, "well if he wrote them that's what he felt."

Hodges also said he did not see the documents in the 70's and he cannot authenticate the documents or the contents. His personal belief is that the documents have been "computer generated" and are a "fraud".

You want I should route around behind my sofa cushions for you, Bill...?

Or root around. I'm flexible.

No, dude. Then I'd just get whacked out and attack a passerby named Kenneth, screaming inquiries about the frequency. And the Dolphin with the peacoat.

*SMACK* that email delete button, Mister! You're doing a fantastic job of digging through piles of itty-bitty details, on deadline, with people yelling in your ear, and with the utmost dedication to factual, substantiated information. The hats o' the blogosphere are off to you!

[hey, I think I just described the news business -- as it ought to be. Imagine that...]
