Friday Ha-Ha
Posted by Bill Perhaps only nerds (or ex-nerds) will understand how funny this video is ... (Click on the link directly under "Live Action Role Playing") (Via WWR) Posted by Bill at August 27, 2004 10:27 AM | TrackBack (2) CommentsCongrats Bill, Denied the DNC, you got to be with your comrades at the RNC. Make sure you keep up the bullshit buddy. Good game. Posted by: Ben at August 27, 2004 10:37 AM I'm not sure whether that was encouragment or an insult. I guess I'll take it as the former. Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at August 27, 2004 10:40 AM Extreme D&D. That video has officially raised the bar on geekdom posts. Posted by: Brass at August 27, 2004 10:41 AM Bill sure seems to have a lot of lightning bolts. Nice skirt by the way. Posted by: Kirk at August 27, 2004 10:54 AM Seems to be casting Lightning Bolt a little fast, too. And from someone who still plays regularly...man, that's pretty damn out there. Posted by: Noah at August 27, 2004 11:12 AM Yeah, three lightning bolts per round? give me a break! I mean ... I have no idea what you mean. Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at August 27, 2004 11:20 AM Yeah, I'd definately agree that that ogre was getting the short end of the stick with all those lightning bolts... That kinda scared me. ;) Posted by: LEMadison at August 27, 2004 11:29 AM Isn't that called "larping?" I've only recently been introduced to the practice through the PVP comic strip which has featured the characters engaged in it over the last few days. I honestly thought it was just something made up in the comic. I didn't know people actually did that stuff. Geeks here in North Dakota don't do that sort of thing. Mostly we just get drunk and tip cows... Posted by: Rob at August 27, 2004 11:51 AM Hey Bill - thanks for the link. Sadly, at 5MB a pop it has already generated about 1GB in traffic today alone since you posted! As I'm going to be away from the blog, making my way back to Denver, I worry I might find my limited bandwidth blown out of the water. So, I've had to disable the link for the time being until I'm better able to monitor the traffic. If you want to host the file, I can send over a link to the new name - although it'd be even better if Tom could remember where he found the file in the first place! Posted by: andy at August 27, 2004 12:23 PM Nah, my bandwith is going through teh roof at present. Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at August 27, 2004 12:27 PM God (who does not exist) bless Google, for I have found another copy of it here. Posted by: andy at August 27, 2004 12:28 PM It's a type of LARPing, pretty much. In general, when you say 'LARP', people in the know think of the Goth-ish 'Vampire' players. Different costuming, and they don't often run around with fake weapons hitting each other. It's a lot less kinetic and more cerebral, for the most part. We had a good crop of them at GenCon this year. What was on the clip was a D&D-like LARP, somewhat less common. Posted by: Noah at August 27, 2004 04:14 PM |
