Whoa
Posted by Bill Whoa. They've got a pretty devastating point. That ad is amazing. Also, if John Kerry's pronunciation of "Ghengis" doesn't turn off the undecided electorate in middle America, I don't know what will. UPDATE: The transcript, via Say Anything, via Patriot Paradox: Kerry: They personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads VET: The accusations that John Kerry made against the Veterans who served in Vietnam was just devastating ... Kerry: Randomly shot at civilians ... VET: ... and it hurt me more then any physical wounds I had Kerry: ... cut off limbs, blown up bodies ... POW: That was part of the torture was to sign a statment that you've committed war crimes. Kerry: ... razed villages in a fasion reminiscent of Genghis Khan ... POW: John Kerry gave the enemy for free what I and many of my comrades in North Vietnam in the prison camps took torture to avoid saying. It demoralized us. Kerry: .... crimes committed on a day-to-day basis .... POW: He betrayed us in the past, how could we be loyal to him now? Kerry: ... ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam ... POW: He dishonored his country, and more importantly the people he served with. He just sold them out. Narrator: Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is responsible for the content of this advertisement. Posted by Bill at August 20, 2004 12:35 PM | TrackBack (0) CommentsI can't get the link to work. What is it and where can I see it at? Posted by: Sharp as a Marble at August 20, 2004 12:57 PM It's the second Swift Vets ad. That's the only link I have. Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at August 20, 2004 01:10 PM And tie their ad in with what is being done at Judicial Watch. They have started another attack against the Kerry Konvoy. They retort with...the publishers of the Swiftvets book should "pull" it from the stores. Oh, that pesky first amendment! Posted by: Guy S. at August 20, 2004 01:11 PM Admittedly I have been posting the same thing at many other blogs hoping that it will be discussed more, but I think the most devastating and least reported issue of with Kerry is his attendance at the VVAW meeting in which they discussed and voted on whether to assasinate US Senators. Kerry did not only participate (information indicates he voted No) he has since tried to coverup his participation. Posted by: Dman at August 20, 2004 01:16 PM If Bill's link isn't working I've got it on my server: http://sayanythingblog.com/archives/003770.php Posted by: Rob at August 20, 2004 01:21 PM At risk of sounding like a total nerd Bill, Kerry's pronunciation of "Ghengis," only screwed it up the same amount that most English speakers do. His first consonant was correct, it's supposed to be somewhere between "Chingiz" and "Jengis." That dorkery out of the way, this is a pretty devastating ad. When I brought this issue up with my father the other day (a partisan Dem), the best defense he could come up with was that they need to let Vietnam go. The same, we all know, could be said of Senator Kerry. Posted by: Nathan Hamm at August 20, 2004 01:57 PM I realize the "correct" pronunciation of Ghengis. I also realize that newscasters that say "Ni-jair" sound like total ASSHOLES. Heh. Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at August 20, 2004 02:03 PM Bill, the first guy is Joe Ponder. He's not a former POW, but a swift boat crewmember. Posted by: Donnah at August 20, 2004 02:10 PM I know, I've corresponded with Ponder. Where did I say that he was a POW? Ah teh transcript. Not my transcript. I'll change. Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at August 20, 2004 02:29 PM Exactly! And, honestly, that's why I always use the "incorrect" pronunciation. Posted by: Nathan Hamm at August 20, 2004 02:40 PM Funny, the New Oxford American Dictionary spells it "Genghis" and gives both pronunciations hard 'G' and soft 'J.' Must be like Gerrymander ... Posted by: MartiniPundit at August 20, 2004 03:25 PM Did you hear the latest from jonnie??? He is filing a complaint with the FEC per Drudge....This guy is a real pussy isn't he? He can dish it out but he sure can't take it. Hero my ass. He is a traitor and a poor example of a man in my humble estimation - but of course I have some mighty high ideals. I always thought highly of so many people that I have since found to be less than perfect. You know, there is no such thing as a perfect person - only a perfect asshole and you know who I am talking about don't you??? Posted by: bolivar at August 20, 2004 09:18 PM I only worry that the Dems will find a way to suppress this stuff. It is really telling, and you can tell it hits home, as John Kerry doesn't try to answer the charges, but trys to discredit the ads and the people. They turn loose the Democrat smear machine, as they can't respond, especially to the pictures and sound of John Kerry in 1971. They were quite successful against Gary Aldrich in 1995-6, at least keeping him off television. His book still sold, and I understand that the Swift Boat Vets book now has 550,000 in print. Another good sign are the cartoons that poke fun at the "Cambodia in Christmas" and Kerry in a Swift boat, weaving between one story and another. Regards, Jim Bender http://dreadnought-cruisers.blogspot.com/ http://kentishknock.com/ http://anglo-dutch-wars.blogspot.com/ Posted by: Jim Bender at August 20, 2004 09:38 PM Amazing how effective an attack can be when you just show video of somebody from 30+ years ago ... and I await the reaction of the Kerry campaign, and the media, but then that's redundant! Seems to me the only way they can squirm their way out of this is to say "get over it already", but that won't fly with the Vietnam Vets, nor will it jibe with their own efforts to focus on Kerry's abbreviated stay in Vietnam. Quite a pickle they've chosen for themselves, I'd say. Posted by: Jeff Brokaw at August 21, 2004 02:04 PM The nasty part of this ad is the setup. The day before, they have Kerry & the NYT screaming "You can't malign vets like that!" Enter new ad. Cruising around, the critique of _this_ ad is _also_ going to get them creamed. The thoughts are "He didn't _say_ that, he was _quoting_ people who _did_ say that". But... the quotes of him saying that he _personally_ did things are also available. Gosh, tee it up would you folks? And if there's anything at all that was recorded in Paris... eeeeeek. Posted by: Al at August 21, 2004 04:58 PM |
