Bush Lied?
Posted by Bill Saddam Hussein periodically removed guards on the Syrian border and replaced them with his own intelligence agents who supervised the movement of banned materials between the two countries, U.S. investigators have discovered. The recent discovery by the Bush administration's Iraq Survey Group (ISG) is fueling speculation, but is not proof, that the Iraqi dictator moved prohibited weapons of mass destruction (WMD) into Syria before the March 2003 invasion by a U.S.-led coalition. Um, or something ... Posted by Bill at August 16, 2004 04:48 PM | TrackBack (3) CommentsBush scried, Um, no. Waitaminute... Bush dried, Shit...what was that chant again? Posted by: willow at August 16, 2004 06:44 PM I question the timing of this post. Seriously, I think we've been up and down the WMD roller-coaster enough times that skepticism should be the default lense on stories like this. Although I do not believe Bush lied (considering how many different intelligence agencies believed exactly what he said), I will take this story at its word only when I see a little more substance than unnamed officials and reports purged of evidence. Posted by: Jane at August 17, 2004 01:51 AM Regardless of the validity (or otherwise) of this information, the "Bush Lied" people are never going to accept it. Any more than they accept that the 2000 election was not stolen. While it's good to have confirmation for historical purposes, that's all it can be at this point. Saddam could admit, on air, in court, that he had WMD's, he could point out where they are, we could dig them up, and it still wouldn't matter:-(.
