... seven Golds to go.

He climbed the podium and leaned over to have a gold medal draped around his neck and an olive wreath placed on his head. During "The Star-Spangled Banner," Phelps removed the wreath and held it over his heart -- much like he would a baseball cap -- and quietly mouthed the words. "I was sitting back enjoying how happy he was," Bowman said. "I don't think I've ever seen him that happy."

A new world record in the 400 Individual Medley: 4:08:26.

This kid's amazing. Bring on the Aussie.

UPDATE: Damn.

Now, you HAD to have known that was going to happen. Phelps had a better chance beating Aaron Piersol in the 200 back, but he chose this. And you know what? I respect him for it. The kid's a competitor.

The good news, though, is Natalie Coughlin's more than living up to the hype. That leadoff leg in the 4x200 free relay was just awesome. All the more so because Natalie rarely swims that event. In fact, she didn't even try to qualify for it at trials.
