Need to Get Angry?
Posted by Bill Go read Malkin excerpting a Marine that served in Iraq. I've typically liked the Washington Post (compared to the rival ship in NY), but by this point I'm about done with them. Posted by Bill at June 29, 2004 02:15 PM | TrackBack (0) CommentsI've noticed over the past few years that, while the so-called "news" staff at the Post are hard left liberals, reporting rumors and outright...er, misstatements of fact, shall we say, as the truth, the Editorial staff is much more evenly balanced, and they certainly don't try to tell you they're one thing when they're obviously something else. Chandrasekaran, Milbank, et al are shills for their liberal brethren, while trying to tell us to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. They are a part of the cancer that's destroying the mainstream media. Posted by: Boyd at June 29, 2004 02:59 PM EXACTLY. The WaPo's Editorial staff was remarkably evenhanded in the run-up to the war, and not just because they wound up on the pro-war side of the fence. The thing is, while I've always discounted Dana Milbank's (who is a man) bs, even the headlines weren't that bad until recently. Now, regarding Iraq, I'm shocked by the hand-wringing defeatism. Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at June 29, 2004 03:01 PM I've pretty much stopped reading the Post's A section as a source of actual news, as in answering my question "What happened in the world yesterday?" Nowadays, it's only reliable for answering questions like "What do my elite would-be rulers want me to think?" Which, granted, is good to know, but hardly the stuff of a great metropolitan newspaper.
