If You Have to Ask ...

Posted by Bill

I thought that I was beyond being shocked by Salon's devolution into moral equivalence that is beyond parody; I was wrong:

The Arabian Panther
Dyab Abou Jahjah's Arab European League calls for sharia law, celebrates 9/11 and warned Belgian Jews to break with Israel or else. Is he defending Muslims' civil rights -- or inciting hatred?
By Abigail R. Esman

I shudder to think that I was once a Salon subscriber.

So, am I correct in understanding that the author of this article thinks that imposing Sharia law and threatening Jews are Muslim civil rights?! That there is just no problem at all with some wannabe terrorist hijacking a television news program? What a bonehead.

This sort of talk is obviously anti-American and anti-semitic. But I think it is also implicitly racist against Arabs. The idea this fascist clown is the best voice for Arabs in the Netherlands makes no more sense than suggesting Adolf Hitler was a legitimate spiritual leader for Germans. Not that any of this matters to Salon when they have the important work of electing Sen. Kerry to the White House to be getting on with.

Yet another topdeck dance on the fringe of ideals to the point of completely falling overboard...
