New Site Design
Posted by Bill Suggestions or opinions welcome. Speak now or forever hold your peace. Posted by Bill at April 26, 2004 10:25 PM | TrackBack (2) CommentsXst, you're in for it now... Posted by: Sekimori at April 26, 2004 10:38 PM It's verra nice, but it's a little wide in my browser. Posted by: Jeff Harrell at April 26, 2004 11:19 PM Bill, I come here for the content. As long as it load with a decent speed, I don't give a damn what it looks like. But that's just me. :) Posted by: Boyd at April 26, 2004 11:44 PM "loads with a decent speed." Sorry, too much Scotch. Posted by: Boyd at April 26, 2004 11:45 PM loads a good bitwide in my browser for some reason, which is just ie. Posted by: francisthegreat at April 27, 2004 06:39 AM Same deal here. I really like the design - clean, crisp, strong. Stretches beyond the end of my browser, though. Posted by: Jon Henke at April 27, 2004 07:20 AM When you say "stretches beyond your browser" what does that mean exactly? What part (body text, images)? Sidebar? And what resolution are you viewing the site in? Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Display--> Settings ... Thanks! Posted by: Bill from INDC at April 27, 2004 08:15 AM Now I think I see what you are taking about ... about 25% of the grey sidebar is off the page ... Posted by: Bill from INDC at April 27, 2004 08:26 AM Due to the massive image in this post: http://www.indcjournal.com/archives/000302.php At 1024x768 the site does NOT have a horizontal scroll when maximized. If it is minimized, it will scroll. In 800x600 you're probably scrolling two screens worth to the right. This template is VARIABLE WIDTH, meaning it will expand/contract with your browser size...but only if NOT held open by very wide images such as in the post referenced above. Posted by: Sekimori at April 27, 2004 08:35 AM My computer is in 1024x768 right now and it looks perfect ... Posted by: Bill from INDC Journal at April 27, 2004 09:27 AM Loads fine in Safari, and looks great. One vote for regime ch... um, template change. Posted by: Dr. Kate at April 27, 2004 09:54 AM Swanky, I say, SWANKY! It's the new "INDC Suite" at the fabulous Blogistan Hotel & Casino Posted by: Steve the Llamabutcher at April 27, 2004 10:44 AM Clean and readable (priority #1!). What I would change would be link color and visited link color. The blue doesn't match anything else on the page and the red doesn't match your red in the header. (It may be the same color but coloring text to match blocks of color is very difficult.) Posted by: King of Fools at April 27, 2004 11:38 AM I like the way it looks now WAY better! Good job! Posted by: Serenity at April 27, 2004 07:16 PM To solve the wide image problem, add this code: overflow: hidden; to any div class in your stylesheet that will be used to display images, most likely the #links, .side, and .blogbody divs. When you have a wide image it won't expand the div and force everything off the page. Or you could just resize the image. Posted by: Madfish Willie at April 28, 2004 01:35 PM Very nice. Posted by: dorkafork at April 28, 2004 03:32 PM |
